GPS watch runners

My Mom got me a Garmin FR70 & Foot Pod. I just told her a Garmin, & she doesn't know models, neither do I Chat Icon

I wanted something to track my miles/splits, etc
It doesn't need to be the top model, but I think the 70 is too basic. I also dont really want to wear a HRM, do they all come with them?

Any recs on what to get?
TIA!!!

I personally think the Garmin 110 or 210 is best for you then, but you can review your splits easier on the 210. I'm actually selling mine (if you are interested), originally cost $200 in April of this year, looking for $155 OBO.

No, the watch doesn't come with a heart rate monitor, you buy it separately.

Re: GPS watch runners

Do you find you even use the HRM?
Can you tell me the differences between the 2?

Re: GPS watch runners

I use the heartrate monitors but I do speed training/endurance training and need to know what zones I'm in. I never used it until I started training for a triathlon though.

The difference between the FR70 and 210 is really GPS. You need the footpod with FR70, you don't need it with 210 b/c its based on satellites UNLESS you run on the treadmill. I only run outdoors so I needed the GPS. The footpod is less reliable than GPS but if you don't care as much, the FR70 is a cheaper option.

Re: GPS watch runners

My mom got me the foot pod too. Unfortunately I often do have to run on the treadmill. But my long runs I go outdoors.

I have to return it thru Amazon, so i'll just trade for an upgrade model. should I keep the foot pod? I don't think I'd really use it on the treadmill, maybe since I was given it.

Do they both store your mile splits? Cause I like to look back at them.

GPS watch runners

I have a polar foot pod and love it. It is very accurate as long as you calibrate it. It also came with a heart rate monitor that I use for speed work.

I have the Forerunner 10 and love it. Has GPS, tracks time, pace, splits and distance. Pretty basic, but exactly what I needed Chat Icon

Does it need/ do you have the foot pod?
I think that's exactly what I need, but I don't want to outgrow something either.
