Baby names
I feel like picking a name wasn't as hard with DD1 as it is this time with DD2. My first DD is Aubrey which is popular but not on top 10 list ! I have yet to meet another child in the area (I live in Pittsburgh now) with the same name so makes me feel better
With this baby we like the names Emily and alyssa. We like Emily more and I want to use it but only thing the bugs me is name is number 6 on social security last year! Im afraid of her being one of four in her class!
Anyone use a popular name? How did you get comfortable with it and if you did with a first child do you really run into that many with same name?

I am only 23 weeks pregnant with a girl but we know we are using the name Ava. I have been in love with the name since I first heard it and dh and I always planned on using it for a girl. I know for a fact that it's very popular and my friend told me there are 4 Ava's in her son's class. I wish it wasn't as popular as it is but I say just go with your gut and if you like the name use it. I am hoping it in the next few years it wont be as popular but it is what it is!

I'm naming my baby girl Emily. It has yet to really bother me that it is considered "popular" because I love it so much, and I feel like I run into MANY more Emma's than I do Emily's. Some kids actually think it's cool to have the same name in school anyway.
And just FYI - I think Emily sounds really sweet with Aubrey.

My 2nd DD is Abigail and although that's up there on the charts, I've never met another Abby (although I think there are some on here) and I have three kids in school (and dance, sports, etc) and none of them have had an Abby in their classes...ever. As for Emily, I think it's so pretty (Abby's got one in her class and my cousin's 10 year old is Emily) and would not hesitate to use it--especially because it is a classic...NOT trendy.

We actually skipped a name we loved for this reason. I've loved Mia ever since I was a little girl because of Mia Farrow. When I was pregnant with DD, DH and I were settled on Mia. I truly had no clue how popular the name had become. Once we realized it, we decided not to use it. I just don't like using popular names. I have a very uncommon, though well recognized name. Growing up, I was always the only person in school with my name. I loved that I wasn't one of the 7 Jennifers in my classes.

Thanks! Yeah i feel like ive heard way more girls being called ella recently than emily...and ella isnt on top 10 i dont even think so sometimes i think its just depends on your concentrated area! you never know what will happen in your child's school i guess!

I don't think it matters how popular it is. I've had the names picked out for years now and funny how both are extremely popular now. My name for a girl is so old fashioned which makes it even funnier 
I'm partial to Alyssa but both are lovely :D

I say go with what name you love! Who cares whether or not it's original or if she has other Emily's in her class!
