starting 1st round IVF shots tomorrow - so nervous
hi all, I did wait to start till after the holidays and am so grateful. Tomorrow is the big day of starting on follistim and menapur....I am so nervous. I've done trigger shots in the past but that's it. Tell me its totally easy and fine please!!! Any tips or tricks I should know about??!

Menopur and follitism are pretty easy shots and do not require any real prep. I just cleaned injection site with alcohol swab and injected.

They are easy shots compared to others.
I personally hated the whole process but you get used to it.

They aren't so bad. Sadly you get used to it after doing so many of them. The first day is the worst bc of the fear after that it just becomes part of your day. DH gave me almost all of the shots. I had to give myself ganirelix twice and almost passed out. So if you can have your DH do them I would suggest that. Good luck!

oh jeez babydreams21.... Is ganirelix worse? I think I have to take that around day 5 of shots to prevent ovulation, right? Meeting RE tomorrow am to get clear instructions. I gotta go do some serious meditation to get in gear for this.

Ganirelix isn't worse its just that DH gave me all my night shots (Gonal F and Menopur) and I get up way earlier than him and Ganirelix is a morning shot. So I felt bad waking him up, even though he said I could. So I gave them to myself. I think I just freaked myself out but I almost passed out. Something about watching the injection and sticking myself freaked me out. I had to immediately get a drink with sugar to make sure I didn't pass out. DH is awesome with giving me the shots. He preps them and tries to inject them so they don't hurt. Without him I wouldn't of been able to do it myself. Many girls have no problem giving them to themselves but I just can't do it. Yeah you take the ganirelix to prevent ovulation its usually when your lead follicle is a certain size.
You will get through all of the shots. Its really not that bad and this is coming from someone who used to have a big fear of needles.

It seems overwhelming at first but you get used to it quickly after your first few shots. Good luck to you!

It's really not bad at all. Menopur can burn a little as you're injecting it, so don't be alarmed if that happens. Push the medicine in slowly to minimize the burning sensation.
The anticipation is the worst part. If you try to go in to the injections in a calm state, it will truly be fine. I am terrible with needles, but I gave myself 4 injections daily while stimming. You can totally do this!

I had a legit panic attack when I first got my meds. After a day or two it was easy peasy. The only one DH had to give me was PIO

Once you get past the initial first shot it gets easier. It took me an hour the first time self injecting to talk myself into it. Sometimes I use an ice cube for a few seconds after to ease the burn

Those shots are easy peasy!! You will be fine. The anticipation is always the worst..after you do it you're going to be like Wow that was it?? LOL. Good luck
