Happy New Year Everyone!!!
Well, got through the holidays and now it's a new year :) Hope everyone was able to enjoy and get through the holiday season unscathed lol. Although I didn't post too much, I was lurking around.
In October we had our second failed IVF. We did one IUI after that, and we were about to start another one when I got SHINGLES!!! It was awful! I was so stressed out and emotional, I guess it effected my immune system. The holidays were really rough for me. All I kept thinking about was how hopeless I felt, how out of reach my dream was, how I would never have a family of my own to gather at the thanksgiving dinner table, how I would never be able to play santa for my own child, how I would never be sitting around the table wrapping my own child's gifts, I cried almost every day...basically I had a 3 month pity party. I was so depressed I isolated myself bc no one but you ladies understands these feelings. I share that not for sympathy or for anyone to feel sorry for me, but because I know others feel that way and I want to let you know you are not alone.
After the holidays I got some good news! My husbands company changed insurance, and he was able to put me on it without breaking the bank. The good news is he has infertility coverage that does not specify where the funds go. Soooooooo, that means we can do one more IVF!!! I kept my ins, because they cover the IUIs, bloodwork and sonos.
I had my consult with Dr Lydic @ RSONY today. I am CD16 and still hoping for a miracle this month, but after this we will jump right back into it. I've been eating right, I am in a better frame of mind, I've been taking supplements for 3 or 4 months, and I am ready again.
The plan is to try a few new med protocols. We will start the cycles as IUI cycles, and when we find the best protocol and we get the best ovarian response, and when my hormones are just right, we will convert it to an IVF.
I stayed with RSoNY bc I am comfortable with them and also because I went to a consult with LIIVF after my first failed IVF and they said they wouldn't have done anything different. The last time I was at RSoNY, they ran basic clotting and immune bloods and they all came back normal. I've already had the endo biopsy and a D&C for some tiny polyps so they don't think that's the issue either. I'm just a poor responder and my AMH is .26 and they think that's pretty much the problem.
I thought about Braverman, but he doesn't take ins and I can't do another OOP IVF. I thought about SIRM too, but they are too far away for me and monitoring and procedures would be too difficult. We discussed donor eggs too, but that's another $8000 OOP expense on top of everything else. We looked into adoption too and that's even more expensive than an IVF.

I was wondering where you have been. Sorry you were so sick. I'm glad you are in a better mindset. This whole IF thing is draining and so unfair. YAY on getting insurance for an IVF!!! I hope 2014 is your BFP year!
