Night weening

DD is almost 8 months and still waking for a bottle at night, is this normal or just habit? She's eating about 4-5 ozs and our pedi told us she shouldn't need the calories at night anymore, she's 18lbs. Any ideas of how to night ween? She won't take a binky, which helped us with our first DC. TIA

Re: Night weening

I started by watering it down, so it was less palatable. Then I started cutting down the amount I gave. I kept doing these things until she eventually stopped waking for it. I'd say it took a few weeks, but there was no middle of the night screaming for a bottle, so to me...it worked.

This is exactly what I did with my DS when he was about 8 months old, it took a couple of weeks but I worked well

Re: Night weening

What time was the bottle she is waking for? One woke for 4:30 but then got up at 6:30 ready to play. So I gave pacis and kept them quiet for the extra few hrs. It took a few days. If that didnt work I was going to just give less and less.

Thanks ladies. She won't take the paci so that's part of the problem, the bottle soothes her. sometimes its 11pm and 3 and sometimes just 3. Shes up around 7-7:30.
