Ok, so my shampoo is just not cutting it anymore. I know that I'm not supposed to wash my hair everyday, but I do. Recently, my shampoo had been making my hair sticky after I blow dry it. I know it's probably product buildup, so anyone have suggestions to fix that?

I think a clarifying shampoo will help.

Regular shampoo? Or dry shampoo? Do you saturate it? I will have to try this- now that I am in my 40s I feel like my hair sucks more than ever. Chat Icon

Re: shampoo recommendations

I've tried a million shampoos - from super cheap to super pricey - and nothing works for my hair as well as Pantene.

My aunt swears by blue dawn dish soap once a month. Apparently it's great for getting rid of build up. I haven't tried it but I can say her hair is really soft!

Just don't do this if you have color- it will strip it.

Do you have to use a lot of shampoo to get your scalp covered? I would expect that the shampoo gets absorbed immediately in the hair since its not bubbling up with the water. I'll have to try this next wash Chat Icon

Baking soda is great for removing product build up. Just mix a table spoon in a cup of warm water and rub it on the hair same way you would with shampoo. There will be no lather but once you rinse with water, hair will be sqeaky clean.
