Will Zumba 2x a week be effective?

I just signed up for zumba at a local gym. I can only make the Saturday & Sunday classes. I'm totall hooked already. I'd LOVE to go to class one night during the week but it's tough getting there after work plus I have a small child at home so that makes it difficult.

Will working out only 2x a week really make a difference? I know it's better than nothing; but I would like to loose 10-15 lbs I have been eating better (will start tracking on myfitnesspal).

Will Zumba 2x a week be effective?

I think Zumba twice a week will have an impact. I would try to go for a walk 1-2 other times a week as well and that should be sufficient.

Diet will also play a large role.

Anything will have an impact but losing weight is 90% food so you can lose with zero exercise.

Thanks!! I'm trying to eat well. I will try to add a walk in the evenings with my son if it's not too cold.

I totally agree with this. I have lost 30-40 lbs a couple of times in my life on WW (pre-kid, post-kid, etc.), with little to no exercise involved.

I think exercise is great to help with weight maintenance, toning, and overall health, but it's not the key to weight loss. The food component is SO much more important.

That being said, I love Zumba, and I think twice a week will definitely burn some calories and perhaps help speed weight loss if you are watching your food intake. I took a weekly zumba class in the summer -- just 1 X a week - and I really think it helped me maintain my weight!
