Storm pressure...cool!
So on the morning of the storm, I had some mild cramping and nausea. My midwife said it was normal pre-labor symptoms for late third tri, and it could also be due to the pressure of the impending storm.
So fast forward to this morning, I was speaking to my mom. Her coworker was due February 12, the day before I am due. She went into labor the night of the storm. She said the hospital was so packed with pregos in labor, and there wasn't even enough room for everyone. The nurses and doctors were saying that it's the effect from the barometric pressure of the storm, and the hospitals are usually packed out with pregos in labor on stormy days. Cool!!!

Re: Storm pressure...cool!
i was told that's an old wives tale...and based on my pregnancy with dd last year i dont believe it at all!
i was due on February 8th - we had a nor'easter that day
i was so nervous about going into labor...well dd arrived 8 days later the barometric pressure definitely had no impact on me

I was told the same thing when I went into labor last time--my water broke and stony brook hospital said everyone was coming in with water breaking due to the barametric pressure. They didn't even have enough labor rooms and maternity rooms. because of it.

I believe it. The same thing happens when theirs a full moon. My mom is a labor and delivery nurse and always dreaded going in during storms and full moons.

Re: Storm pressure...cool!
There were two major snow storms around my due date or right after my due date with both pregnancies and they did nothing for me. However, with DD2, I went into the labor the day the polar vortex was starting (when it would drop to 8 degrees by evening) and the L&D dept said they suddenly had a packed house so maybe it had to do with the low pressure system.

That's so interesting! I do know two people born in the April 1982 snow storm and my cousin was born in a January storm in 1994... she was actually delivered by the father on the kitchen floor!!!
