Midterms?

Can high school midterms be made up? Or do they have to be taken on the scheduled day?? I would think they make some sort of exceptions. Anyone know?

Re: Midterms?

When students have a legit excuse theybmay make them up. Speak to the Teachers. Regents cannot be made up.

Re: Midterms?

Contact the school because each school has its own policy. In my school, the only time it can be made up is with a dr. note.

What happens if the child has say a stomach bug or strep and is vomiting or has a high fever? There is no make up for medical excuses with a drs note?

It's my understanding that the Regent's are offered twice, January and June. So I am thinking if you miss the first, you can take the second?

Also, it's my understanding that the schools must be closed to regular instruction during Regent's (my high schooler has no school next week), so that makes sense why there are no makeups. They can't just take it during regular school hours.

Schools do not need to be closed for regents but it has to be given in a separate location that is distraction free. And no a student cannot make up a regents. It is a test made up by the board of regents that even the teachers can't see and open before hand. Everyone in the state takes the regents at the same time. Therefore a child can not theoretically cheat by getting answers off internet. They also have to stay for two hours without being dismissed regardless of being done or not and if late cannot be admitted after a certain time. I've had many students cme sick unfortunately or just take them at a later date if it wasn't required for graduation immediately.

Eta regents are offered jan. June and Aug.

Just curious, does your school close for Regent's? I had no idea there was no school until last week when someone mentioned it!

At the end of the year it always closes. For the last ten years I worked at my school it closed for 3 days during January Regents week. However, last year, they gave back those days as instructional time after Sandy and I guess, figured it worked so well that they did it again this year. Most schools I know do close for the Regents though.
