WW 2014

I was on Weight Watchers last year when I became pregnant and stopped going. I want to rejoin, but I heard the program changed. Is anyone doing it who could give me some updated info? Thanks! :)

I don't know a whole lot about it but it now makes you use low fat, fat free, etc products. I wanted to join after I had my daughter but I don't eat low fat or fat free anything and don't plan to.

Have you tried the Diet and Fitness Board?

I haven't been back, from what I hear it sounds like they're suggesting people do the old Core program for 2 weeks, as a jumps start. Eat only the "Simply Filling" foods for those 2 weeks, then it goes back to the same points program, I think.

They don't make you do anything actually. I hate low fat and fat free anything, it's gross. Weight Watchers has never really advocated eating anything specific, especially since their introduction of the points program. Their motto is always enjoy the foods you love in moderation and eat a healthy, well balanced diet with plenty of fruits and veggies. There is no emphasis really placed on HAVING to eat low fat or no fat.

I just rejoined about three weeks ago. It's still the Points program, which I love, and they added "Simple Start" for the first two weeks which is basically the Simply Filling/Core Program they always had. I didn't bother with Simple Start though because I like to track so I started off with my points. So easy.

I love Weight Watchers. I think it's the most sensible program and the easiest to stick to long term. It's not a diet, it's really just healthy eating and moderation, that's what I love about it.

This.
DH is doing it online.
They don't tell you to eat anything- it's just about point counting.
He loves it.

You can eat anything you want on WW, BUT I believe they say only fat free dairy counts as a simply filling food.

But you don't haven't follow Simply Filling, that's just an option open to you. I prefer points tracking so if you're following points, it doesn't matter what dairy options you choose so long as you track it and count the points. Chat Icon

That's right it's NOT a NUTRITION program. It's a weight management program. Which is why there isn't a lot of education on what is good/bad for you, just portion control.

Completely INACCURATE description of the WW program. They actually DO educate you about WHAT you should be eating, it is NOT just about portion control. It's about BALANCED EATING, making sure you get adequate servings of fruit & vegetables, protein, water, dairy, good oils, activity, and a multivitamin. While yes weight management is ONE of the goals of WW, the main goal is GOOD HEALTH.

I stand by my comment about not being a nutrition program because the leaders are trained in WW but not experts in nutrition, they are former WW members who were successful. The diet is not individualized based on someone's health status and needs, there is no nutritional counseling.

Yes, you are correct about focusing on overall health which is why it's a great program.
