Re: did anyone else hear about a potential blizzard?
Here is the update from Craig Allen
Please, stop reading fantasy posts by facebook forecasters who seem to actually wish pain and suffering upon the public through severe weather. Always hoping for the worst possible scenario. It's sick and gets worse every year. Some of the maps shouldn't even be allowed to get into their hands for dissemination. A complete degradation of the profession. They claim they have the right to the data.Technically they do but you don't have the right to yell fire in a theater unless there is one. There is no doubt over the next two weeks, we will have ample opportunity for storms. That's all we know. With the retreat of the polar cold and therefore the northward emergence of the sub-tropical jet becoming a player, many parts of the country will be riding the typical waves of Feb storms. Yes, here too. Anyone giving you more details than that is leaving a pile of that bovine excrement. Based on how this winter has been going and how maps have been handling it, 'more than 5 days away, the bs will lead you astray' (and I have nothing more to say!

From Rich Hoffman's FB page:
Just an FYI- ECMWF (euro) model has been off most of this winter. Stop focusing on Feb 8th to 9th it's so far away. Focus on Feb 4-6th. GFS has been better all winter. Look at this - http://models.weatherbell.com/gfs/2014013012/east/gfs_6hr_snow_east_25.png
Spring where are you?!?!

but on a side note and my $0.02, if and when we get any more substantial snow... i just hope it's timed perfectly to give me all the snow days i can handle
knowing that next winter i'll be living in san diego makes this winter a lot more fun than normal

Re: did anyone else hear about a potential blizzard?
Has anyone else heard about the potential heat wave they are talking about for July 14-16? It's from the Euro model which has been particularly accurate this year. Get your bathing suits and AC's ready!

Don't the models show the potential for moisture? IF we do get something, it's very possible it will be rain. People just need to remember that models are NOT forecasts!

It does show a fairly large increase in moisture which is why we're looking at a possible storm for this Monday coming up.
The thing is the temps. Right now, as it stands, we could get snow because the temps are supposed to drop back down to the 20s by Monday.

Re: did anyone else hear about a potential blizzard?
I know it's more for the Hudson Valley, but the weather guy I follow is hype-free and usually pretty accurate. Last night he said:
•Tuesday PM into Wednesday the probability of a significant storm impacting the region continues to increase
•The final track, strength, timing and availability of cold air will determine the type of precipitation and amounts
Just thought I'd share since there are usually some similarities between here and LI.

Weather.gov has snow in the forecast twice this week. Snow Sunday night into Monday and a wintry mix Tuesday night and Wednesday.

I am doing very well, thank you! Extremely busy so I don't get in here much anymore. Everyone here is doing well with knowing who to follow on FB, so no need for me. Thanks for thinking of me!
