HR peeps..resume question
I'm in a new position as of Jan 1st. I haven't done much for the position since we've been waiting around for a new program to start. things changed and now we have to get our butts into gear and learn everything fast!!
I have 0 experience in this position.
I just passed my licensing exam and will be looking for a new job ASAP. I was in my previous dept for 3 years.
Do I just show a gap on my resume from Dec till now since I haven't really done anything?
Also, I haven't really "worked" since August, which is when I went on maternity leave. I came back to a dept that was closing at the end of Nov. should I still put that I worked in my previous position till Dec?

HR peeps..resume question
I'm not in HR, but I do look at resumes sometimes... if you worked somewhere, I would include it. In the description, you can talk about the program you are learning to deal with.
I don't know how to deal with the mat leave time, but I do think you should include it somehow, so that there isn't a gap in your resume.

Re: HR peeps..resume question
I might be wrong but since you were technically "employed" with that company during your maternity leave, wouldn't you just leave it?

You wouldn't leave it off. You were still employed, just not going to work. And you did go back to work. When you list it on your resume, you should have it like this (most recent on top of course):
XYZ Company Sr. Manager Dec. 2013 - Present xxxxxx
Jr. Manager Nov. 2010 - Dec. 2013 xxxxxxx
This shows consistency in work and the company.

I agree. They will see you have only been in your position a short time, so if i was interviewing i would focus on the previous job and responsibilities.

HR peeps..resume question
NEVER LEAVE A GAP WHEN THERE WAS NONE... and if you do have an actual employment gap, fill it with something, IE, volunteer work, studying for exams/certifications, raising a child, etc. You NEVER want to have any sort of gap.

Re: HR peeps..resume question
You were never not employed so always, always, always leave your position on there.
No need to break it down over a matter of months IMO.
Just keep your skills/duties on there.
I also think showing your advancement throughout the company is good too.
