tylenol for 2 month old?

today my son got his 2 month shots, he was really cranky this afternoon with painful cries. Since then he slept and now he has 100.5 fever. Hes not as fussy as before.

Is it ok to give him tylenol? I forgot to ask the doctor today. He is 13lbs

thanks!

tylenol for 2 month old?

My doctor said to try to avoid it if possible. Also, if you Google Tylenol after vaccines, there are some less than comforting studies out there. If you did already though, stay calm, I'm sure he will be fine!

The dosage is based on weight. Call your dr.

I'd call the dr. Mine says wait 12 hrs after shot or it lessens the effect.

My ped was fine with giving Tylenol after vaccines. He recommended a half dose for crankiness/irritability vs a full dose for fever. Your dr. will be able to tell you the dosage. Hope LO feels better! Chat Icon

It's fine to give Tylenol but you have to ask your dr for the dosage.

I did with no issues.
Ask the doctor for the dose though since it goes by weight.

Re: tylenol for 2 month old?

Thanks for the responses! I was able to get in touch with the doctor on call and he said I could give infant Advil, he told me the right dosage for his weight. DS was much better in the morning.

My older son is 2 1/2 and you would think it was a million years ago!

Thanks

I thought advil wasn't allowed in babies under 6 months. Did they change something?

My ped had told me that had changed and new studies showed Advil (Motrin, Ibuprofen, all the same) are ok under 6 months.
But many drs still follow the old guidelines so it really varies from ped to ped.
I did give Motrin/Advil at under 6 months based on my peds advice.
Never had an issue with it.
