I am considering signing DD up next year when she starts K. For those who have done it, what is the time commitment both on weeknights and on the weekends? Both myself and DH work full time and we also have DS, so I want to make sure we can handle it.

Re: Daisies
My DD's troop meets once a month for an hour after school. They just started so they haven't done any other activities but my expectation is it's pretty minimal. It is somewhat dependent on your leaders. Troops can meet more frequently and plan whatever they like but for kindergarteners I can't imagine many leaders would plan activities more than 2x per month.

I am a daisy leader for my dd, we meet 2 times a month, right after school in the cafeteria...the service unit does an event every month that we will offer the girls to do as well, but with anything additional you do not have to sign up for it if you don't want to

My D troop meets for an hour 1x a week at her school in evening I drop her off or stay to help. We are in cookie mode so we had a sale @ Old Navy & will do another one in few weeks. The troop will do lil field trips here & there & a nice fun field trip @ end of yr. Parents are asked to help during cookie booth sales & trips but are not required.

It's hard to say. Where I live, the leaders can decide how often to meet. Some troops are bare-bones and meet once a month. We meet 2x a month for an hour after school. The girls are in first grade now and most of them have been with us since last year. I know someone else who wanted to put her daughter in but the only new troop decided to meet Friday nights which didn't work for her.
Our unit has lots of events. We do most of them, from the ones that are age appropriate. Some of the troops don't do events, but they have their own events and trips.
I'd suggest reaching out now if you know someone who's a leader to find out if any troops are forming since they fill up quickly. Also, you can get a better sense of how things are done where you are since it probably varies.

I'm a leader for my daughter's daisy troop. Every troop is different and can make their own schedule. On average most including ours meet twice a month. We do our meeting right after school in the cafeteria. The GS council offers events they can participate in that are not mandatory and we do our own troop specific trips that are not mandatory.
