Speech/Feeding therapist in Commack/Smithtown that takes insurance

Hi everyone:

DS didn't qualify for EI but I was told his issue is weak mouth muscles. They think he could benefit from speech/feeding therapy to strengthen the muscles.

Can anyone recommed a therapist in Commack/Smithtown that takes private insurance?

We go to island therapies in deer park and they take insurance.

my son went to The Therapy Spot in islandia & their speech therapist is amazing!!

We decided on Mid Suffolk Speech Pathology & Swallowing Disorder Services of L.I.- in Commack.

ETA: They are going to evaluate his "oral musculature"- I am hoping they will help him with chewing!

Update:

The therapist completed the feeding part of the eval and she agreed with EI that his mouth muscles are weak. EI said he has no other issues and didn't qualify for any services.

She said he has no aversion to certain textures. He will eat all textures- he just has a hard time chewing- or it takes effort for him. He doesn't have the chewing skills that a child his age should have.

She thought his tonsils seemed enlarged- which might encourage him to breathe through his mouth- which could foster weak muscles? I don't know, I will take him back to his ENT. I just had him checked for allergies at an allergist. He is not allergic to ANYTHING.

Tonight she will assess his speech- I guess we will do therapy for at least muscle strengthing in the mouth. I am hoping it works and chewing will be less of a struggle for my little man.
