I have been looking for a new dentist....
because my current one is rather expensive with implants. (most are). But I just got an email that they are having a special on implants and it is a pretty decent deal. Now I am thinking I should just stick with them as they know what I need done and my insurance will cover the crowns. Can I change dentists later on? Do I have to stay with them because I got the implants from them?

I think you can always change. This is common especially with how often people change insurance.

It's nice to stay with someone your comfortable with and takes the partial coverage you have.

I have been looking for a new dentist....
I would check if they have any kind of guarantee on the work what the details are - it might be contingent on seeing them regularly for your cleanings and other dental work. But it sounds like you are happy with them other than the cost of the implants? For such a big thing, I would want to go where I'm confident they will do a good job.

Thank you.... I will call them tomorrow and check into all of it. They were getting expensive with the basics so that is the reason we were looking to go somewhere else. And we moved about 20-25 minutes away. I have an appointment with another family dental place next week. I will have to compare prices..

Re: I have been looking for a new dentist....
I am a dental assistant. Ive been in the field for 18 yrs. You can go elsewhere once your implants are done. We have new patients that come in all of the time and had implants done elsewhere. However, I just have to say - remember, you do get what you pay for. There are different types/brands of implants and some are of better quality than others. We have had numerous patients leave our office because we were "too expensive" and come back after getting shotty work in another office and say they were sorry they tried to save a few bucks because now they have bigger issues.
good luck with your implants!

It's very important to pick a great dentist, not even a good dentist. Like PP said - you get what you pay for.

Since our dental insurance sucks, I am limited to where I can go anyway. I was looking to move to a place that was recommended by numerous people. I think I am going to stick with my current dentist even though I know their prices are higher then most other places. (even the co-payments) A crown costs me $600 at my current dentist and $450 at another one... I am going to call them for an appointment and just suck up the extra money for now. As long as I can change places down the road, I am ok with this.

Can you go out of network with dental? After years at a terrible in-network dentist, I switched to someone that doesn't take insurance(but they submit the forms for you). For cleanings and x-rays, I get reimbursed close to the full amount. Other stuff, I would pay a lot more.

I could if I wasn't spending so much. I would have to drop $15,000 and pray my insurance reimburses me..
The dentists in the office are pretty good. It is just the cost of everything.
