Anyone knows about plus size sizing system: is 20W and 2X the same thing?
I am trying to sell something on someone's behalf who told me that they wear size 20W or 2X. Just want to confirm: is that the same thing?

It depends on the designer/store. Each company is going to have different sizing, to the point that an 18W at one store will NOT be an 18W at another. My body shape is very hourglass, for my bust, depending on the store, an 18W will not cut it, and whatever size I get for the top, is usually too big for waist. Therefore, for myself and most of my "bigger" girlfriends, we HAVE to try things on.

It depends on the store. usually they have a size guide. Even in regular sizes, sometimes a large is a 12-14 & sometimes it is a 14-16.
At land's end, a 2x is a 20W-22W, but of course even a # size can vary from store to store, but yes, a 2x is approximately a 20W.

Thank you, everyone! I am trying to sell something on eBay that my grandmother doesn't want. It's a very beautiful cardigan that she just doesn't like, but the problem is that it was handmade by a seamstress so there is no official size. My grandmother said it fits her and that she wears 2X. Then she also gave me a suit to sell that she no longer needs that also fits her that is labeled 20W. So you see why I was very confused!

You could also try & measure it and show pictures of how you measured it. Does that makes sense? I've seen that online before. Lay the sweater face down & put a tape measure over the back to measure shoulder to shoulder, etc.
