Cruise?
Is the beverage package worth the $$? It works out to $325 pp. We are going to be drinking as there are 22 of us going on this cruise. I may need to drink to keep sane. lol.
We are going to the formal night & there is an anniversary party another night. What should DH & I wear? We don't really have formal clothes. I was thinking of wearing what we would wear to a wedding.
I don't want to over pack so what would you bring for a 5 night cruise?
This is our first cruise.

Re: Cruise?
It depends on how much you drink as it comes to about 6 drinks ago. You have to remember the days you are off the ship also.
Formal night can be gowns to something dressy or regular wear if you are not going to take pictures and do more casual dining.

$325 seems like a huge expense, but then again I'm not much of a drinker.

As for formal night - wearing what you would wear to a wedding is fine. We were just on a cruise 2 weeks ago. There were people dressed to the nines (evening gowns, tuxes;) people "dressed up" in nice dresses and suits and those that were in much more causal looks - sun dresses, pants and shirt. Don't go crazy over it if ou have things to wear that are "formal" to you.
As for the drink package - I didn't do it. I figured with the days off the ship it wouldn't be worth it. Usually had 1-2 drinks during the day when we were on the ship and then I like wine with dinner - you can order a bottle of wine that they will keep for you over however many nights it takes you to finish it. That was better for me. Plus during the days on the ship they usually have 1-2 happy hours when drinks are 2 for 1, so if you time it right, you can cut down the cost that way (we didn't really plan to order drinks during the happy hours but it just worked out that way a few times.)

My bil gets it on his cruises and swears it's well worth it.... Dh and I aren't huge drinkers so it would be a waste for us. I can't remember the last time I had 6 drinks in 1 day... I'd be bombed and def not want to see another drink the next day lol

Re: Cruise?
For us it's worth it. We always get a few cocktails during the day, glass of wine at dinner, etc. I'm sure it also includes non-alcoholic beverages as well which can add up. But it depends on how much you expect you'll be drinking.
As far as formal night- wedding wear is perfect. You don't need a tux and ball gown or anything like that.

Re: Cruise?
DH is a drinker and we have been on 3 cruises and never got the package. Check the policy on the package because we were told you had to purchase the package for everyone in your room whether they drink or not. During the day we didn't drink much just at night so our bill wasn't too bad. Also if you drink wine then yes they save the bottle you order at dinner for as long as you want it the rest of week so that helps with the cost. Also we learned we can bring alcohol on the ship (well really sneak it). We emptied a box of wine and reused the bag it came in to fill with vodka and the security scanners don't pick it up because it is plastic...have fun!!
As for formal wear, we enjoy dressing up so I always wear a gown one night and another fancier dress the other formal night and DH wears a suit. (we cruise for christmas which makes dressing up fun) Anything you choose to wear will be fine

Everyone in your room has to order the package. It can't just be you and your husband doesn't get it. That is also something to consider.
