Lubes during IUI?
Hey ladies I had my IUI this morning and I'm having another tomorrow but the np did an ultrasound prior to my IUI and she put lubricant on the probe. I did question if using lube prior to my IUI would effect the sperm and she said no because it is water soluble. But now I'm googling it and it says that even water soluble lubes could effect sperm. Have any of you ever had lube used or know a little more abt this? Tia!

Lubes during IUI?
Maybe they used something similar to preseed. I'm sure the re would not use something that would affect sperm.

I don't think that they would either but this was my 3rd IUI and no one had ever used lube on my previous ones so its just making me wonder.

I never had a sono before an IUI but when I do, they usually use lube. The only time I know it is bad to use lube is during any Pap smear or biopsy.

Also, with an IUI, the sperm is directly into your uterus. they bypass the area the lube would be to put the catheter in. I think you're fine

The only thing that I was thinking was what if the catheter picked up some lube before entering into my uterus but now that I'm thinking she did clean my cervix before so I'm sure I'll be fine I'm just making myself crazy I guess.

I had a sono with lube before all IUIs my doctor said it didn't matter. At RSofNY they once had to do a sono before IUI and didn't lube. Hurt like a *****.

Yes phyllis is is correct about this - i think - as with iui everything goes into the uterus directly....so u should be ok...GL

I don't think they would use lube if they thought it may interfere with the spermies. don't Worry.
