PGD (Embryo Screening)
My RE is recommending this for our next IVF Cycle ...anyone else have this done? I have to contact someone (other than my nurse) to set everything up ...not sure what I have to set up? Feel a little lost ... just want to know what to expect. We are leaning toward doing it and paying the extra $.

PGD (Embryo Screening)
We had planned to do it for the IVF cycle we just did. Unfortunately, though, by day 5, we were down to 1 embryo and it had not progressed enough to be tested. We had the choice of doing a blind transfer or waiting until day 6 to have it tested. If we had waited, though, we would have had to have frozen the embryo to be transferred later. We were concerned about the possibility of losing it in the freezing and thawing process, so we opted for the blind transfer.
Our RE's office notified the company that we were planning to do PGD. The company then contacted us directly to have us sign the consent forms and give them a credit card authorization. We just needed to get that information to them by the retrieval date. Since we wound up not going forward with the testing, we contacted them and they issued a refund.

Re: PGD (Embryo Screening)
We did it and now I have my perfect DS! One thing to be aware of which I was not, is that it's not foolproof. I got Regnant with twins originally and was not mentally prepared to lose one because I thought since they both took and were PGD normal, that we were out of the woods after we saw both heartbeats.

Re: PGD (Embryo Screening)
I did it and it was 5K out of pocket. I was told by my RE at the time that I should because one of my MC's was chromosomal.
I think I was never a great candidate for it in the first place because I just didn't produce enough eggs/embryos to test. I had to go through three retrievals to even get enough embryos to test. They have to make it to a 5 day transfer to do PGD and mine weren't making it.
I eventually did PGD on 4 embryos, and 3 were genetically normal. Unfortunately, the three cycles that contained those 3 were all BFN.
That's because I later found out that I have implantation issues. It had nothing to do with the actual embryos.
