Resume question

When you update your resume, what do you put if the company you used to work for went out of business? I am helping my friend update her resume and this company is a large part of her work history. There's no contact phone number anymore so I am not sure if it looks bad just leaving it out.

Re: Resume question

Leave it on there and when she gets interviewed, she can explain the company is out of business.

I don't put contact numbers for companies where I worked on my resume, I didn't think that was a common thing, so I don't think it matters. If they ask for references then you could say write "Jane Doe (manager while at XXX Corp.)" and whatever current number therre is for that person.

Re: Resume question

OK that makes sense. Now that I am looking at my resume... I didn't include phone numbers for anyone except references. My friend is using a resume builder app and she said it has a spot for it so I didn't even think that's something I've never included. Thanks everyone!

Yup, this. Some places request former manager's phone numbers. I know one practice I worked where the doctor passed away about 6 years ago, and I have no idea if the manager is still at the number that I have.
