Centereach.....
So we just stumbled upon Centereach and seems like a nice area and decent taxes.
Any feedback? Areas to avoid? Desirable areas? How are schools compared to Pat-Med (where we are currently)

Centereach.....
my FH grew up there and his parents still live there. it's a nice area with a lot of shops right around it. i think it has a bad reputation but my FH turned out great. lol

You will hear mixed reviews on middle country sd but I think compared to pat/med it probably fairs a little better but you could look up scores. Centereach has a lot of nice areas. All my cousins live in a centereach and selden they have all great jobs, graduated from great colleges and went to MC their whole lives.

Centereach.....
There are good and bad streets like in any area. Overall I think it's a nice location. I went to Middle Country and had no issues. I would have no issue living in the area but we moved a little north due to a specific school district need.

There are very nice neighborhoods but then there are pockets of not so nice

Centereach.....
Im in Selden and I love it there. Centereach is right "next door" so to speak. I like the area, and its incredibly convenient with the shopping and access to major roadways. DH went to MC and did well. I grew up in Farmingville so Im a Sachem kid, so unfortunately no personal school reviews here.

If you can handle the traffic on 347 during Christmas time than it's a fine town.

Centereach is more middle country road than 347. 347 your hitting Lake Grove, South Setauket, Stony Brook.

I live in Centereach and we are happy here. My kids are little but we love that the district has UPK. We are looking to move since we have outgrown our house and I wouldn't hesitate to buy in Centereach again.
The traffic is pretty awful though. And I do take 347 quite often.
