My mother has one.. Jake is def.. a barker.. other than that he is a great dog.. She also has had a Husky, and has a Vizsla as well.. lemme tell u that none of these dogs are as smart as he is.. really. They are lovable and smart and he doesnt jump up or anything like that.. he just barks at anything.. like falling leaves.. lol

Re: Feedback on Weimaraners?

Misty is not a barker - she barks when someone comes to the door or if she seems to feel threatened, but that's it.
As far as energetic - yes she is pretty energetic.(Ask Kara about the walks in the woodsChat Icon ) but as long as she gets her exercise she is fine.
I have to say that she is the most loving, intelligent dog I have ever owned. She is the best thing that ever happened to us and I am probably stuck on Weimies for the rest of my life!

All this as she stares at me waiting for a walk!

My mom had one, and he was the greatest dog. They are very smart dogs, and will be your best friend. They do have alot of energy and need exercise. I thought that I would only ever have bulldogs, but weimeraners are definately possibility.

Re: Feedback on Weimaraners?

LOL Misty is a beautiful and friendly, good-natured girl. She does have tons of enery but if you can take her out and let her run, she is so happy.

I think they are great dogs.

PS - sometimes they step on their own tongues ---so they are entertaining as well!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Feedback on Weimaraners?

"It is essential that the family teaches this pet to obey all family members, otherwise, the Weimaraner will try to rule the roost, so to speak. However, training must be gentle and kind. If not, their friendly attitude may suffer. Inbreed variations in attitude are substantial. "

"Weimaraners can be good family dogs, although they may be overly enthusiastic for small children."

TY Diane and Mel.

This dog is already trained, housebroken, and has been fostered around small children. I believe he is also in a foster home with other dogs as well and he is 6 years old. DH wants him because he is already an adult and he knows it's harder for adult animals to be adopted

He sounds wonderful and he would be lucky to have a peramenant home like your loving one. Good luck! Keep us posted!

Very loving, loyal dogs. Not aggressive, very friendly, may love you to death and be kinda rambunctious and can knock kids down....

I think she would have a problem adopting the boxer only cuz she is in Georgia (I believe) not here in NY. The weimie is nearby her.
