2 under 2 must have's

I have 5 weeks left and haven't really done anything for #2. With my DS I already had all clothes washed, room complete, and name picked out. I guess I'm slacking this time around Chat Icon

I'm trying to figure out what I need to buy for #2 (We are Chat Icon ). I washed some of DS' newborn clothes that are neutral and bought some new white onesies. I bought a package of newborn diapers. I have a city mini double stroller.

I know I need another monitor camera.

Anything else that I need to get new or anything helpful for having 2 under 2? I made a registry so I would get the completion discount.

A bigger diaper bag. I found my original one too small for all I needed to carry.

Extra towels and wash cloths.

A baby carrier-if you don't have one. It's much easier to wear a newborn which frees up your hands to care for the older one.

New pacifiers- get a few different types not all babies like the same.

Not product related but if you can cook and freeze it will be a huge life saver. Also collect menus for take out. I found cooking to be one of the hardest things in the beginning.

wine.... lots of it! (j/k... sort of!)

I was also a 2 under 2 mommy, for me the big lifesaver was wearing the baby. I didn't baby wear my 1st because she just didn't like it. But I didn't give my DS the option. I needed to have my hands free to be able to deal with DD who was 18 months at the time.

But in all honesty, #2 spent a lot of time in the swing or bouncy seat!

ETA: If you can swing it... a baby sitter once or twice a week. It gave me the time to be able to do 1:1 time/special things with DD. it also gave me an hour or two to myself to be able to catch up on some sleep.

As the other posters have said, definitely a baby carrier. i wore DS most places until he started walking. At home while i tried to get things done and take care of the twins, i wore the baby. It made my life so much easier. He's 20 months and walking everywhere, but sometimes i still throw him on my back in the carrier.

Re: 2 under 2 must have's

New bibs
nipples
a different paci
more crib sheets
washcloths

Other than that I don't think anything besides the double stroller.

You should get a new toy or book for the older child

Good Luck - my 1st 2 boys were 14 months apart and it was great and they are best buddies most of the time now

A baby carrier would be top of my list.
I loved the ergo (which got popular after my #1).
Nipples for bottles.
I enrolled DS in Gymboree for some "us" time. The 1 hr of alone time when baby was bigger was good.

Thanks so much for the suggestions! I have a moby from DS and also bought an ergo (just need to get the infant insert). I'm also sending DS to camp 2x a week for half a day to keep him occupied. Looks like I'm doing pretty good with my list!

A playpen that you can put the older one in quickly if you need to do something for the new one. I have a 21 mo boy & a 3mo boy. It's tricky at times! Goodluck with delivery!

Which camp are you using? I can't find one that accommodates kids under 2

Absolutely. Ergo = survival in my house!

eta: nm the infant insert. Swaddle the baby in a thicker blanket and you're set.
