How do i get LO evaluated? Who do i call and how long does it usually take for them to come?
Will they discard me if LO is 10 months? Even if isee issues in multiple areas?
Average cost of ei?

EI is free, you call Early Intervention at the Department of Health for the County in which you live.
They will do an intake and then schedule evaluations. Once you start the process, they have a certain amount of time to schedule and complete the evaluations and go over the results with you. I would say it's a couple of months beginning to end. If you see issues, you can have LO evaluated even at 10 months. If your child doesn't qualify now for services, but you still have concerns later on, you are already in the system and can call to get him/her re-evaluated.

Ok. You can call the following: Suffolk County Health Services 50 Laser Court Hauppauge, New York 11788 Main: 631-853-3100 Fax: 631-853-2300 Tell then you want to refer your child to EI. Age doesn't matter unless they are older than 3. There is a 45 day timeline that must be met from date of referral to time of meeting (if eligible). It can go past 45 but then the evaluating agency must have a legitimate reason why.
ETA - EI is a no cost to the family program. 1/3 is paid by state, 1/3 is paid by county, 1/3 is billed to your insurance company. But if your ins co doesn't pay or only pays part, the state and county eat the cost. There is no copays, deductibles or any cost to the family at all.

Definitely call EI. DD started at 11 months. Also, EI does not take from your insurance. They only ask if you have Medicaid and if so they charge back to that.

They will bill your insurance if your insurance covers it. My insurance definitely paid for part of the PT and maybe for speech too. We didn't have to pay anything out of pocket, though.

I just looked it up and they only use your insurance if it is NY based and you are correct, there is no out of pocket for the parents. My insurance is not NY based, we are based out of Washington State so they did not use my insurance. I was getting confused lol. Thanks!
