Model casting
Dd was selected for a casting for a major company. I've never done this and I have no idea what to expect. The only reason I'm even doing the casting is because they let me pick the day and time and said I should be out in 15-20 minutes. So I planned it around dd's naps, bottles...everything.
Anybody have any experience with this?

They can only work a max of 3 hours so that is the longest you will be there.

Re: Model casting
Was she casted or are you going to a casting?
If she was casted- then the AP was correct- 3hrs max PER DAY. DD has done 2 shoots- 1 for Avon and 1 for Joe fresh. Both took a little over 2 hours start to finish. Most of that is waiting around.
For a casting- you will most likely be in and out. The most we've had to wait is 20 minutes (and that was for a BRU cattle call lol)

How did you get into this?
If you really want to get into this I suggest contacting one of the agencies that handle children in the city.
Its not glamorous and the pay is little for all the running around you will need to do.
You will have to go on go sees just to be able to book something and all of that is on your dime.
If you do book it the pay for babies is usually 50-150 and hour (even though it could be more) and then they only can work for 3 hrs. So you would max get 450 for the day.
I had my DS accepted by one of the agencies but as a working mom it just was not feasible because you have to be available all the time.

Thanks everyone. It was a piece of cake. It was a legit agency and a legit casting. If it wasn't, I wouldn't have even entertained the thought.

Re: Model casting
That's great!
I had a friend whose baby was a serious model from a few months to almost a year. baby was picked up by a serious NYC store & was the cover model.
I don't want to disclose their personal info on this page (like which store picked her up), but the story sounds A LOT like this one:
http://www.parents.com/kids/style/modeling/baby-model/
The mom did not work & ended up putting $10,000 into the kid's college account (a nice win!). In the end, the mom pulled her daughter out. She did get hurt feelings: her baby, who had "the look" at 3 months, didn't at 9 months.

Re: Model casting
I know a several model kids who do commercials, print work, etc.. They are constantly schlepping to the city for go-sees or requests that take 5 minutes. They miss A LOT of school, and their young lives revolve around their "job". It's kind of sad to be honest!

I agree. Dd is only 10 months and I'm a sahm. I personally wouldn't do it once she is of school age, not to mention when she becomes more aware. I wouldn't want her to deal with the rejection.
