Might have to be induced =(

Since my 36 week appt. my fluid was borderline low. Today it went from 7.5 to almost 5.5 so I have to go back Wednesday to be checked out. I was surprised they even let me go home today and I have a feeling I may be induced this week. It is so not what I expected to have happen (even tho I am trying to just go with the flow) and from what I hear inductions can be brutal b/c you are starting from 0. Any words of advice, encouragement, success stories? My husband keeps telling me the end result will be the same--our beautiful baby girl, but this is so not how I pictured going into labor.

your husband is right, in the end you will have a beautiful baby girl in your arms.

i can understand your concerns/hesitations, i actually have my 38 week appt tomorrow and have a feeling my doctor will want to induce me as well due to different issues. what i keep telling myself is that this is what is best for the baby. the health of your baby is most important and this is what is needed to be done in order to get her out safely. see what happens Wednesday, you never know your fluid level may remain the same (or increase) in which case they may let you wait longer. but regardless, if you do need to get induced at any point, its for you and your babys health.

I decided to be induced with #3 for babysitting purposes. I was 1 cm dilated which really means nothing. I went from finger tip on a tuesday afternoon to having #1 Thursday morning (I went in for my regular weekly visit). With #2 I was walking around 2-3 cm for 2 weeks and was 3 days late.

My induction went great. Everyone was calm and I really got to enjoy all the aspects of it. My other 2 were easy deliveries but it gets a little crazy.
Could you end up with a c-section? Yes, but you could end up with one even if you were not induced. Sometimes woman have a narrow pelvis which doesn't allow the baby to go down, nobody would know this until you are actually delivering.

crashing but i had no progress at my 39 week appt and I only was induced because my water broke a few days later. They inserted cervadil to help dilate me and it worked (and got the contractions started so I did not even need pitocin). I want to say from the time the cervadil was inserted to when DS was born it was about 12 hours. Best of luck!

I am sorry it might not go as you planned. I would be disappointed too! Your DH is right though, the end result is SOO worth it! I hope things go as smoothly as possible, whatever happens. Good luck!!!

I was induced due to low fluid at 38w4d. It wasn't easy and it was long but in the end, I had a successful vaginal delivery and DD is just perfect. I don't want to give you details and scare you but if you want the link to my birth story, just let me know!

I was successfully induced. At the end of the day all that matters is the health of you and your baby.

I checked in at 7am, started pitocin at 9:20am and dd was born 11:37pm same day. I was 80-90% effaced but wasn't dilated at all when I checked in. I got to 4cm by lunch and they offered me the epidural. I was never in any real pain. Dr manually broke my water at 7pm and things progressed very quickly from there.

Sometimes things just don't go as planned. All that disappointment goes away very quickly one the the baby is here.

Drink a lot of water!! I just learned that low amniotic fluid could be from dehydration.

I had a really great induction experience 3 yrs ago with DS.

Was 3 days past my due date - and was at absolute zero….no progress whatsoever. I was terrified……on top of that, my doc swore that DS was still so high up, that I'd ultimately be a c-section. That freaked me out because I didn't want to be induced and try to labor for hours, only to end up as a c-section. Thankfully, my doc was cool with my preference to give the induction a chance, but quickly go to c-section if I didn't progress enough.

Low and behold……they gave me cervadil at about 2:00 am - and I was dilated 7cm by 6:30 am. I labored all day (totally comfortable, thanks to epidural) and (vaginally) delivered my beautiful DS at 6:20 pm. I'd do it again in a heartbeat!

Don't stress or worry - the end result is worth whatever you have to go through. My way of looking at it was "one way or another, he's coming out eventually!!"

Your hubby is right....try not to stress out over it!

I have no personal experience being induced but know plenty of people who had wonderful, successful inductions at all different stages of their pregnancy (starting somewhere and starting at 0)...

Thanks again for the great advice girls! My fluid is holding steady even tho it is low and Im a fingertip dilated so I guess anything can happen before my next appt. on Friday!!! I appreciate all the kinds words =)
