Nassau County Summer Rec Program
Looking for a camp for my 5 yr old this summer. Anyone send their child to the Summer Rec Program at Eisenhower Park? Did your child enjoy it? Any other rec's in the Floral Park/New Hyde Park/Mineola area? Thanks!!

Re: Nassau County Summer Rec Program
Don't know what hours you are looking for but my kids have down NHP Police Athletic League in the Summer. Goes from the week after school ends until the second week of August, 5 days a week from 9-12 for $510 per kid. Tons of kids there and my kids love it. They have a number of field trips that you have to pay extra for as well if you want your kids to go. You also can have your kids do the afternoon session, but that costs extra..not sure how much. It's on Denton Avenue next to golf course.

Thanks for responding! We actually need full days , 5 days a week. I need something in the area as my parents will be doing pick up. This is so hard!! I did see that Tully Park has a summer camp which I will look into as well.

I think you can do both the morning and afternoon combined for $1,100.00 check out their website. I was going to send DD but her grandmother volunteered to watch her this summer.Nhp pal

Hofstra does a great summer program. You can choose to send your child in increments of 2 weeks (up to 3 sessions) and I think there is a 4th session that is a week long. Since your DC is 5, they would be in the Cub Camp, which means they do the following: morning play, morning meeting, outdoor rec, swimming, lunch, afternoon (this varies depending on the theme for the week and what the child chooses to do). I'm a counselor there, so if you have any questions, let me know.

Re: Nassau County Summer Rec Program
'Sent my son there for the 9am to 3pm camp (they have 9-5 also). He enjoyed going, would tell me he had fun, and that they played this and that sport or they explored such and such area of Eisenhower. I would occasionally do spot checks (drop by and observe DS and his group from afar) just to see how it's run, how the teen camp counselors are... and I saw it was being run well. I would have sent him again but we're doing CAPE this year.
