any cyclists on here??
just bought a bike on Sunday and im excited! I have been doing 15 miles at the gym almost everyday.. yesterday and this morning i did 6.2 miles at the track.. 6 miles on a real bike is WAY harder than 15 on a stationary bike!
but i gained 4 lbs.. WTF?!
any tips as far as meal plans/work outs/ websites to buy gear ( other than the clymb and nashbar) would be greatly appreciated!

Yep, real bike is definitely harder in so many ways!
You really gained 4 pounds and rode 6 both days? Ha, I'd love to say they are related but no idea how!
I ride about 40-60 miles a week lately and my nutrition on the bike consists of a mix of gatorade and carbopro which has no taste but is just pure calories. I need to take in a lot of nutrition since I'm on the bike for 3-4 hours at a time. Before rides I usually eat a bagel with cream cheese Are you curious about nutrition when not on bike or on it?
As for sites, I bought all my gear at bike stores in NYC (though they can be pricey) and Nashbar so I'm no help on additional gear.
Hows your tush and lady parts after the ride? I wear cycling shorts and use chamois butter when I ride.

I need to lose 25 lbs. No bagels for me
Should I just stick to high protein/high fiber/ under 5gs of fat and pray it works?
I only ride 1 hr a day. Looking to increase time. I went this morning before work and did 6.2 miles and I'm thinking of going back after work but im SO sore.
My butt hurts but its ok. Lady parts are fine. I tried on the padded shorts but i look ridiculous in them, so i will wait until i tone up a bit

Ha, nobody looks good in padded shorts but OMG they help so much that I don't care how they look.
Where is the soreness? I hated hearing this when I started riding BUT riding through the soreness can be good (as long as its not injury), it toughens you up, and makes you stronger. My first ride ever was once around central park (6 miles) and I was sore but then I did more and more over time. Now my muscles are pretty adjusted to long (40+ mile) rides but my tush/lady parts are still struggling.
Re: nutrition, I am not sure you need to really do anything different with nutrition than you normally do. I mean, if you are ravonous when you are done with a ride than obviously eat more but I don't think you need to be taking in extra protein, etc. yet. I only do a protein recovery meal if I ride a looong ride, but for 20-30 miles, I usually just eat a meal after. I used to think I had to do a lot more until I saw a nutritionist and she changed my view completely.
BTW, you should see my nutritionist (covered by my insurnance)--she did a metabolic test on me (recommended by my coaches so I believe its legit) and it basically told me what type of calories I need.

right under my butt is SO sore and so are my thighs. I dont mind it though. it means im actually being active
i did another 7 miles yesterday after work ( did 6.2 yesterday before work)
i have to stop snacking!! I wake up int he middle of the night and eat and dont remember until the next morning when i see poptart wrappers and combos wrappers my bf said i got out of bed one night and started eating leftover grilled calamari. is something wrong with me?
