Throwing out couches...where?
Per our towns trash removal info - it looks like we're allowed to put out sofas that we want to throw out on the curb (2 maximum) during the day when they pick up random items not related to regular trash/recycling. It just feels like such a big item to just put on the curb.
Has anyone done this? we're in Floral Park. Just don't want to go through hassle of putting it on the curb if it's not allowed...Or should I call a special pick-up service?

i dont know how it works in floral park, but we did it in east meadow. we had to call for a bulk pick up though and they told us what day to put it outside.

Are the couches in decent condition? You could try putting them on Freecycle- I bet they would be gone quickly. I do not live on LI and my local FC group is a Yahoo group. I think it works the same though- you post the item and your location, someone offers to take it, you arrange for them to pick it up. I have always left the items in my driveway- I have never met anyone who's taken my stuff.
Also if you are on Facebook you may be able to put it on a tag sale group even if you don't want money.

Im in the village too n i just threw our couch out last week.. Put it out for bulk day.. How random that we both live in floral oark n are throwing out a couch lol

A - I put out a couch a few months back. I'm trying to remember what day it was. I want to say it was the first Wednesday of the month. They took it no problem. We did put it out earlier on a Tuesday night cause people will come around and take things the night before bulk pickups.

I would call special pick up
this. we call special pick up in my town... i am spring cleaning. so special pick up comes to my house once a week. they have different things they pick up on different days. today was tvs. another day is wood.

Our town told us just put them out on our 2nd pick up of the week. Which we did. It was a 4 piece sectional, we put it out the night before and by noon the next day the guys had taken it. That thing was heavy too.
