Would you take a double stroller or single umbrella stroller on a Disney cruise?

I have always taken our double city mini stroller on vacations (Atlantis, Beaches T&C, Hershey or any other vacation). My boys are 3yo and 5yo. Just turned 5yo still likes sitting in the stroller but is capable of walking.

I know the double stroller should fit under the bed so actual storage in the cabin should not be an issue. We are staying in a deluxe room with verandah. We plan to pack light and take only one carry on and one back pack for our 3 night cruise.

Wondering if it will be a pain pushing it on and off the ship.

My boys are like yours. My older DS (will be 5 end of the month) is lazy and still sits in the stroller on long walks.
I was debating on taking the double to Aruba since we usually go places in walking distance and my older DS has been walking more. I finally decided to take the double. I feel it does store better (folds well) and if my older DS or younger DS wants to walk I can just throw the bag in the stroller.

End result we were happy we took it bc the worst part was the airport. Both boys were tired and it was a lot of waiting on line and going through customs, getting luggage, etc. They just stayed in the stroller and easier to maneuver through the airport. We also used it at night going to dinners.

We went to Atlantis with our friends who had a 5yo and 1yo. They don't have a double and just brought their single. The 5yo sat in the single store the entire time and a parent had to carry the 1yo.

Our then 2.5yo and 4.5yo comfortably sat in their stroller throughout our trip.

I would not bring a double stroller, that is going to be really hard to push in narrow corridors that have lots of bends! No way!! Not to mention no one will be able to get by you while pushing that thing!

That was my main concern - not being able to push through the actual boat.

How are the ramps?

Assuming elevators will be crowded during peak times.

Would it make a difference if I brought my single city mini or umbrella stroller?

I would bring a single umbrella stroller if you think you need it, but honestly I probably wouldn't bother. The ship isn't THAT big. The ramps on/off the boat are fine. We stayed on deck 2 purely for ease of using the stairs to go to deck 3 (lobby), 4, and 5 (most of the activities). The elevators to the pool deck were always crowded.

If you feel your older DS will need it what about 2 umbrellas and get that piece that hooks them together? My friend said she did that for Disney. Her older daughter is also 4 and going to be 5. I said the double, but she said the girls fight and pull each other's hair.

I also wanted to give you a fun suggestion for autographs. Bring a photo matte, drop it at guest services on your first night and they will have the characters sign it for you, and return to your stateroom the last night. Make sure you specify portrait or landscape so the signatures line up the correct way. I did this, and it was such a nice keepsake!! We put our pictures with Minnie and Mickey in it.

I am actually afraid that the kids will fight over sitting in the single stroller. This would be the first time we would go on vacation with a single stroller.

I really don't think you need to the stroller at all. I wouldn't bring two. You can't bring them in the dining rooms, and there isn't really anywhere to park them on the pool deck. Plus you won't be pushing it on the beach at all (you can take the tram over to the family beach).

Single for sure. We had our city mini double because we were at WDW before the cruise. It wouldn't even fit through the stateroom door. We had two verandah rooms and it fit easily under the bed but we didn't take it out at all once we were on the ship. If you need another stroller you can rent one for free from guest services- you only need to leave a deposit. We rented one for our 7mo. Our 2yo walked everywhere. There wasn't a huge need for a stroller on the Bahamas cruise.

Would you recommend an umbrella or a city mini?

Our 3yo still needs a stroller or else we will need to start carrying him. He is too heavy to carry.

We also have a 3yo and 5yo. I would bring the umbrella. As others have mentioned when we go away next month on a cruise we won't be bringing any strollers.

I think you will be fine with an umbrella stroller. It will be easier to fold up and stash in the closet or under the bed when you are not using it. Only reason I can think of to bring the city mini is if you think the 3yo may nap in it or fall asleep at dinner and you want one that reclines. But like other posters have said the hallways of the ship are narrow and I think the smaller the better. You really may find that you don't need it at all.

Re: Would you take a double stroller or single umbrella stroller on a Disney cruise?

WE just got off the disney cruise this weekend! We were perfectly fine with an umbrella stroller for my 2.5 yr old - and honestly i couldn't imagine anything bigger on the ship! And I usually LOVE my jogging stroller everywhere including beaches for naps!

But we were able to borrow (no cost) a city mini from disney on Castaway Cay for a nice nap on the beach - but she also napped on the cruise and in St Maarten just in the umbrella stroller (never did that before - I guess the long days and late nights she didn't have a chance to be picky about where she napped!)

I would rock her to sleep on the back two wheels so she was a little more inclined/laying down position and then I would prop the handles up on the back of a lounge chair so she slept practically laying down! (see pic below) HAHA! Hey not your typical use for an umbrella stroller - but it worked and she was in the shade from the back of my chair

Honestly I would bring an umbrella, unless you plan on getting off in Nassau and doing sight seeing, we didnt use our stroller at all. We rolled it on the boat with DS (2yo) in it. Put it under the bed and that was hte last we used it.

I used one of the disney strollers on castaway cay when DS2 was sleepy and walked hte island with him. But really I never once felt the need to have my stroller with me.

We took an umbrella stroller on the cruise and were one if the very few who had one. It was a pain in the ass for logistical reasons but also because my 3 and 5 year old fought all week over it!

Aisles are tight and there is not a ton of space in the restaurants.

Re: Would you take a double stroller or single umbrella stroller on a Disney cruise?

My biggest worry on our cruise was not bringing the double. When we went to disney, even my two oldest, 5 and 4 would go in the stroller. It literally caused me agony, and I was considering not listening to people.

I ended up bringing 2 umbrella strollers, one for my 20 month old, and one for my almost 3 year old. the 3 year old never needed it the whole entire cruise. I actually considered leaving it there because it was annoying having to lug it back on the plane! haha

Our umbrella double did not fit through the hallways of the Disney Dream and we ended up borrowing a single from the ship. We also went to Disney World, so we really had the double for that purpose.

I haven't been on disney, but my city mini would not have fit on our Celebrity cruise. Friends mentioned disney's hallways are narrow, esp with cabin carts. I would bring 2 singles not a double for any cruise.

Definitely the single - the hallways are narrow and the elevators are tiny. And like a PP mentioned, they have strollers you can use for free at Castaway Cay.

We're doing a combo land/sea Disney trip in a few weeks - I rented the double for the resot/parks - but I'm not dragging a stroller on the ship -

Mine are 3 & 5
