Dr felt "full thyroid" & I need a sono
Has anyone had any experience with this?
I went to my gyno today & she thought my thyroid felt full. She had blood work done & I scheduled a thyroid soon for Monday. She said she has diagnosed 3 cases of thyroid cancer in the last 2 years, and is being cautious.
Of course, all I heard was "cancer".
I just had my physical with my primary care doctor & she ran blood work, and nothing irregular showed up in her labs & I know she checked the thyroid.
TIA

Re: Dr felt "full thyroid" & I need a sono
I wouldn't worry about it at this point. My neck is normal size and not fat but to a trained eye my thyroid looks full. Every time I see a new doctor, they always ask if I have a thyroid issue. I have had blood work and sonograms done multiple times and they were always normal.
While its good be cautious and run tests, I don't think it was appropriate for the doctor to tell you she had diagnosed three cases of cancer in the last two years. She could have just mentioned that she is being cautious and not mention the cases she diagnosed. There is no point alarming the patient before getting the results. Since you just had a physical, I am sure everything is fine. You may want to call your PCP and ask them to fax you your b/w results or ask for thyroid levels for peace of mind until you get the sono done. Please don't be anxious.

My thyroid is "full", I just have an enlarged thyroid. My full thyroid panel came back normal, and my sono just showed that it was full. This was about 3 months ago.

Also, thyroid cancer is SUPER easy, basically only requires surgery. It's a very VERY slow progressing cancer. I don't know anyone who was diagnosed that needed radiation or chemo, and I've know A LOT of people over the years diagnosed, between friends and patients.

I have multiple nodules on my thyroid and a being followed by an endocrinologist. I had biopsies done and all were benign. I wouldn't worry too much., Your Dr is a moron too btw. Who the hell says that?
