Getting an EXTRA sonogram at one of those storefronts??

has anyone done this?

some lady at my job the other day said she did it after her 20 week (her baby did not cooperate at the time) and found out it was a girl. She said it was $135 and she got a video and like 20 pics.

I am going to do this if I can't find out the sex at my appointment.

I know they do it here in the city.

ask your doc, some of them are not certified and they are questioning if there is any harm to the fetus because of the ultrasonic waves (there was an article in th eNY times not too long ago about this). Ask your doc to recommend a place, the office I go to would not recommend a placce since they felt it was too new and they did feel comfortable giving the "OK"

My doctor also asked me not to go to one of these. He said that there hasn't been enough research to see if these people are doing them correctly or causing any harm to the baby since it's such a long sonogram and the techs are not necessarily medically certified or anything.

I didn't do this. Just wasn't something I would feel comfortable doing. I would definitely get permission from you doc before you do it. Most offices will give you another ultrasound real quick if you baby doesn't cooperate and you want to find out the sex.
