Flooring quote
We received a quote for flooring today: lay and stain 110 sq ft of white oak, sand and stain 400 sq ft of existing flooring, and relay a few planks within that area: $3200. Does this seem reasonable? TIA

Flooring quote
Seems a bit high to me.
Just back of the napkin if you figure $10 a sqft installed for the new flooring which is probably high, that's $1100. I think I paid like $8-$9 for 3 1/4 inch flooring select grade installed and stained but larger area, new install.
Sand and stain existing probably at $2.50-3 sqft -$1200.
so you're at $2300 without the "relaying planks" which I'm not sure how much work that is, but probably not much in material. Lets throw $2-$300 on for that. so maybe $2500?
is there demo involved?
I'd get a few more quotes.
I used Walters floors 516-826-6470
some people on here used Goldstar? I think

I dont know about the new flooring, but we just sanded and did our floors. We used Kings Park Flooring. It was $2/sq ft.
ETA: Get a few quotes. We rec'd 4 quotes and the range in price was over $500 from the lowest to the highest. We chose in the middle range and love our floors

I just an amazing quote from Gold Star. Literally half the price of someone through my contractor. $6600 for over 500sqft of install and sanding and refinishing of about 1600sqft total.

I am refinishing 1700-1800 square feet and adding wood in my kitchen and hall

Will you be able to get the kitchen to match the other flooring? I ask because I'd love to add wood to my kitchen, but have been told it would be very hard to match the stain to the rest of the downstairs stain.

This is my situation also - the first person who came for an estimate said no - new floor needs to be laid and existing floors sanded and restrained bc you can't match exactly
