Again, cribs not made in China
I was doing research on this 2 years ago, and now I'm lost. I don't have a lot to spend, but if this baby is like my others, the crib is getting eaten I am so glad I went with one not made in China.
However, Young America isn't manufacturing anymore, and their furniture won't have a warranty if you buy it. So, does anyone have any suggestions? I love Pali and Romina, but $$$$$$

We have Romina for DD1 and it's been almost 2 years since we did the crib shopping. Not sure what crib we're getting for DD2 yet, or if we're getting a toddler bed for DD1 instead. You could check Baby Cache at BabiesRUs. At least some of their stuff was made in the USA. The "Baby Cache Elite" was a better quality. I think this brand is part of the Echelon/Munire company.

Our set is from Bellini, but that's super expensive so that won't help you. BUT why don't you get a cover for the railings? We have one from bru that is organic and you can clip on teething toys.
I definitely understand it not wanting to be from china though. Have you been to behrs?

Bellini is made in China. I do not know if this applies to older cribs but when I purchased my DD crib I was told all of the cribs are designed in the US but manufactured in China. I was unable to find a crib that matched the furniture I was given that was made in the US in my price range. I ended up going with a crib from Bellini.

My daughter just bought a crib for my granddaughter from Land of Nod. It is made in the USA. It is a little $$$ but she bought it when it was on sale.

Re: Again, cribs not made in China
i have a stanley young america crib and have not needed the warranty. i bought it in 2010 for DS. DS has used it since jan 2011 up until now. we had converted to a toddler bed for him and now have it back as a crib. we just put DD in it. it is in perfect condition. the no warranty would not stop me from purchasing a stanley young america set if it was available.. in fact before the stopped manufacturing, we purchased a bed dresser and night table for DS. i am very upset that they stopped manufacturing. the furniture was great

Hmm. I just looked at my paperwork for our crib and other furniture and it all says made in Canada. And has a specific inclusion about the wood.

Silva Furniture is a line by Romina but not as expensive. We got our set at Behr's. Believe it's manufactured in Europe. I got the below from their site.
Does SILVA Furniture contain any harmful chemicals or toxic emanations? All our furniture is made of solid wood, organic glues and all natural ingredients. Our finishes are water-based and free of Lead, VOC, Formaldehyde or any other toxic emanations.

Just curious when you purchased your furniture- I bought my DD crib in January. I have the Isabella crib. When I talked to the store manager she said the furniture is all made in China now. I was a little disappointed but the crib is well made.

Again, cribs not made in China
I bought everything for DD's at Behr's. I guess I'll have to go back. Sad about Young America, because it was affordable compared to Romina and Pali.
Even though something says "made in USA/Canada", it doesn't mean it's made in USA from USA products with US regulations. The material and paint can be from China, and it can be assembled in the US or Canada. I have been looking online, and there are so many examples of this.
I didn't have covers on the rails because I honestly don't like the way they look. I tried, trust me, even with the Pali, but they don't stick well and ended up looking like trash. Although it shouldn't be a big deal, I know, I take pride in how it looks since i have to save up to buy their stuff.

We placed the order feb 2013. Had it delivered June 2013. We have the Mercedes crib.

Again, cribs not made in China
Unfortunatly anything that is going to be good quality (ie safe if they chew on it quality) its going to be $$$$. This is the absolute one thing I didnt skimp on...we ended up with Romina. Its been a little over two years so I dont really remember the others but they sell organic covers...i ended up with these anyway as my ds was chewing away on the crib and I couldnt have it look all scrappy...also didnt want him eating crib pieces...LOL

Our crib isn't eaten, but we have really ugly protectors on it.
