1 year old and fruits..
what fruits does your one year old eat and do you give it to them raw? I'm boiling apples and pears to make them a little softer and cutting it up into pieces..what do you do for harder fruits?

I give her raw slices. She munches on apples, carrot sticks, pears, celery. Pretty much how we eat it is how she eats it. She likes taking bites out of things so she likes to hold the fruit and bite off pieces. Only time we steam anything anymore is if its a veggie and we are having it that way for dinner.

I always gave raw. We did lots of berries, bananas, nectarines, plums, pineapple, mango. I did apples and just peeled them and cut small. Pears are nice and soft when they're ripe.

You can give your lo anything and see how she does. My ds is 14 months and loves apple slices, watermelon, strawberries, blueberries. He will scream for red fruit. Carrots are impossible for him to chew and soften enough to swallow, so they must be steamed.

their gums are so hard they don't need teeth to eat. i just cut up everything small. i just gave her cantelope for the first time the other day and i wasn't sure she was going to be able to chew it but she did. ironically my dd always tries to get the big pieces before i cut them lol just start small and they will figure it out.

I steamed them at that point too. Now they eat cucumber so I'm sure apples are fine.

Re: 1 year old and fruits..
My DD was having raw fruits from 6 months on, DS from 8 months.
I just cut everything into smaller pieces........apples, watermelon, bananas, mandarin oranges, melon, blueberries, etc.
They had no problems eating fruits, even the harder ones. ( and my DD had no teeth until she was 1! )
