2nd time mamas!
Did you have or will you have a sprinkle? I can't decide if I want one. I'm leaning towards yes to celebrate the new baby but it will be really small. Also should you register or is that obnoxious? My babies will be almost 4 years apart so in that way I think it makes sense.

2nd time mamas!
My mommy friends threw me a sprinkle, took me out to dinner and gave me gifts. My SIL wanted to throw a big one at my house and I said no way, she had the best intentions obviously but I feel like its tacky to throw one for yourself, if your friends or family want to do it that is different iMO As far as registering, people do but I felt funny.

I think it depends on what is normal for your family/circle of friends.

I only registered because of the completion coupons. For example, the diaper bag I want is excluded from the Buy Buy Baby 20% off coupons, but if you have a registry you can use the 10% off completion coupon :). You can apply towards a double stroller, etc that are also excluded. BRU has good deals too.

Re: 2nd time mamas!
Absolutely NOT having one. I really dislike the idea. To me, you get one shower and that's it. We recently had a sewer backup in our basement and lost tons of baby items that we planned to reuse for this baby. A friend of mine said, "You should have another shower since you guys lost all of that stuff." My response was, "absolutely not." It's no one else's responsibility to help us buy new items.
We are registered for this baby, but we did it for the completion coupon, plus Babies R Us has a promotion where you get a gift card for 10% of all purchases from your registry. When we buy anything, we make sure it's on our registry so that it will give us some money back.

2nd time mamas!
Kids will be 3.5 years apart and no.
I'm sure close friends/family will still buy us gifts for the new baby, but I don't want anyone to feel obligated. They were more than generous the first time around!

2nd time mamas!
My children are 3 years apart and I did not have a sprinkle.
We are reusing all of DS's things for DD's - Neither myself nor DD care that some things like the swing or car seat are in a boy pattern.
Everyone who came after she was born brought gifts and they were all clothing items or diapers. There was so many clothing gifts that she didn't have a chance to wear some because she out grew them so fast. I couldn't imagine what I would have given away if I had a sprinkle as well.

2nd time mamas!
I really think it's such a personal decision. It is not a tradition in my family to even have a baby shower, but my MIL insisted on throwing me one. It wa beautiful and big, and I got thousands of dollars in gifts, but still feel guilty about it I don't like the idea of sprinkles because its like mooching for more gifts. My personal opinion only.

My personal opinion only. thats why I'm asking actually!!!!! I feel so weird having one. Like I'm greedy or something. I'm so on the fence about them. I like it for the party aspect of it. So the next baby doesn't get left out if you know what I mean. But I hate for people to bring gifts. I feel weird about it!
Thanks ladies!

Re: 2nd time mamas!
I didn't have one, but mine were only 18 months apart. I felt strange having people give me gifts when they just had a year before (plus everything was still in great condition!)
It's a personal choice. Honestly, if I'm invited to a shower/sprinkle I'm VERY happy to celebrate, no matter what number baby it is. But for me, I didn't want to have one for my second.

Re: 2nd time mamas!
I thought about it because the kids are 3 years apart and different genders but the timing didn't work out to have one. And i was fine with that. I was on the fence about having one anyway. I didnt want to be asking for gifts but at the same time it didnt' seem fair that only DD got to be celebrated and there was nothing for DS.
I did register, more of a check list and to get the completion coupons. I figured it would also make it easy for DH to get exactly what i needed if i had to send him to the store.

Re: 2nd time mamas!
3rd time Mom here I did not have one with my last dc and I will not have one with this dc either. There will be 5 years between my 1st dc and dc #3, there is a 2 year gap between dc 1 & 2. I would feel funny about accepting gifts when we have so much and really do not need anything. Whatever we do need this time around we will purchase ourselves. Sprinkles are not something my family and friends do.

I personally do not like them. I like the idea of celebrating each baby, but not with an event where people bring you gifts. I know someone who had a shower for all 5 of her kids- so tacky.

Re: 2nd time mamas!
I will not be having one when I have my 2nd. It is definitely not something done in my family. We have 1 shower and that is it. Of course people will bring gifts to the hospital I am sure but I wont be registering.

You're right. Whomever wants to bring a gift will bring a gift out of kindness. I will accept it, but I won't ask for anything

Re: 2nd time mamas!
If its a different sex I would definitely do a sprinkle. People get gifts either way generally anyway. It really is a personal choice : ) I do agree on registering for completion coupon purposes.

But I'll definitely register in any case whether I have a party of not for the completion discount.

I agree with you. I've been to many sprinkles and I think they are very nice to celebrate the new baby, no matter the gender or years apart. I don't see it as mooching for gifts, I've never felt that way. As a guest, you can bring whatever you want, however small or big and it doesn't have to be from registry, if there is one. I totally plan on registering for the completion discount. I would not plan my own sprinkle but I would love it if I was thrown a small one with just close immediate family and my best friends.

Re: 2nd time mamas!
I had a DS and the second time around had a DD almost 4 years later. I had a sprinkle. I don't at all see it as mooching for gifts, I think every baby deserves to be celebrated! It was only family and 3 close friends.
