staying motivated

I get that weight fluctuates, but this is just depressing!

I weighed myself sunday morning, and I was semi-happy with the weight.

I will admit sunday was not the best diet/exercise day. I had some mini snickers, and hot dogs for dinner.
Weighed myself this morning, and in one day I GAINED 1.5 lbs!

It's just so unfair that i was good all week and one day (not even the whole day) puts me right back at the beginning!

ARGH!

Any tips on staying motivated/ tricks to not sabotage myself again?

I'm the same way - if I have a 'bad' day, I can be up 3 pounds the next morning! It's crazy and totally depressing!!

My best advice: don't weigh yourself everyday! The gain from one bad day could just be bloat. Weigh yourself at the same time and day each week - for me it's every Saturday morning - and record that weight.

You definitely didn't gain 1.5 pounds in a day.
Weight fluctuates everyday. Water retention, whether or not you went to the bathroom.
My advice is do not weigh yourself everyday. If possible don't weigh yourself at all. Use your clothes as a scale. If your clothes are loose then you are losing weight. I know, very hard to do. So if you are going to use the scale. Weigh yourself no more than once a week. First thing in the morning after using the bathroom. And naked.
Don't get discouraged.

I would think maybe you're just retaining water from the salt in the hot dogs. It might not be 'real' weight gain. Keep at it, I bet it's gone again quick.

Re: staying motivated

Thanks Ladies.
Weekends are usually hardest for me, and I never drink enough water.

I think maybe I'll change my weigh-ins to Friday morning. Those numbers may be kinder. And once a week only. Will try to avoid the scale other than that one day.

The weight increase is probably just extra water from all the salt you ate. I weigh myself once a week. If I weigh myself in between the week or in the afternoon instead of the morning, the number on the scale is all over the place. Just pick a day and time once a week to weigh in.
