Looking to move a little more west (currently in East Islip). Give me the good, bad and ugly about both towns please!
Have a 2 yr. old DD so I am interested in school info too.
Thanks!!

Re: West Islip vs. Babylon?
Well, from purely a real estate standpoint, there's a lot more inventory available in West Islip school district than in Babylon school district. Also, the homes are more affordable... not much in Babylon if you are looking under $450K, but you could do well with that budget in West Islip.
Of course, Babylon is desirable for village area with nice restaurants, and proximity to train.

West Islip vs. Babylon?
I think WI is generally thought of as having a better school district than Babylon. I love the Babylon village pool that is only for residents and of course the village, but the village is very close to many parts of WI. I don't think you can go wrong with either town, but one has a very different feel from the other. WI has great access to highways and parkways, as well as the Robert Moses and Jones beaches. I think Babylon is more diverse if that is something you are looking for.

West Islip. It's not far from the village and you get more for your money. I can't tell you about the schools from personal experience, but we bought here because of the schools and community.

Re: West Islip vs. Babylon?
I agree with MommaG I love the Town of Babylon's pools, but if you have your own pool that doesn't really matter. If you live in Babylon then you have a Village Tax as well, which is a reason we chose W. Islip over Babylon. Love that the Village is close enough to take advantage of but I don't have to pay the xtra taxes. If you commute to the city, being in Babylon maybe better only because you don't have to pay for parking at the train. I think in general W. Islip has larger lot sizes than Babylon too.
