Differences btw Island Trees and Levittown?
What's the difference between Island Trees and Levittown SD? I know Levittown is larger district, and taxes are higher for Ltown schools. Is one rated more highly than another?

As a realtor, I really am not supposed to comment on how good schools are (and it's kind of subjective). But since Levittown has two high schools (and middle schools) and Island Trees has one, you probably want to check out the various schools against each other in whatever stats are important to you (graduation rate, % going to 4 year college, test scores). The two high schools in Levittown are MacArthur (Salk for middle) and Division Ave (Wisdom Lane for middle).
In addition to Newsday, sites like www.greatschools.org and www.schooldigger.com are helpful for this type of info. Also check out the school district websites themselves.

Absolutely true - school district preferences are very subjective. (DH and I are both in education, so we have first-hand experience with this). I'm looking for information that I can't easily Google: class sizes, school culture, athletics, programs for high-achieving students, etc. I can find racial demographics, but I cannot find the % of Jewish families in either area. I am fine with being a minority, but I don't want my daughters to be the only Jewish child in their class.
Does anyone have personal experience with one or both districts? PM me if you're not comfortable posting.

20 years ago I was one of maybe three Jewish kids in a class (Salk, MacArthur)

Differences btw Island Trees and Levittown?
I went to MacArthur and I had several Jewish people in my classes - although they were definitely a minority. In the past, the largest Jewish population was zoned for East Broadway elementary school.
ETA: I went to at least 4 bar/bat mitzvahs.

Differences btw Island Trees and Levittown?
I went to Island trees and our graduating class was I think like 150 I am not 100% sure but it was def. under 200 kids. I basically knew of everyone in our class. I cant help with how many Jewish kids were in my school cause honestly I never really paid attention. I know they had AP classes but I cant comment now what they offer I graduated in 2000

Also, wanted to add -- although the OP may know this -- that Island Trees is now on the Princeton Plan, which a lot of smaller districts have switched to (e.g., the elementary schools are zoned by grade level, not geographic area). Sparke is K-1, and Stokes is 2-4, and then there's the middle and high school.
Levittown has the traditional, zoned by neighborhood elementary schools for K-5, and then the middle schools are grades 6-8, and then high school.
Also - I totally understand wanting to hear from people who have first-hand experience with the schools. Just fyi - The www.greatschools.org website does have some recent (in the past couple of years) "community reviews" of the schools. But of course, people who take the time to post on a site like that may have their own agenda (good or bad), so like anything, you'd take it with a grain of salt!
