Desperate..socialized kitten found under shed needs forever home

We found a momma cat and her kittens under our shed. Momma was very friendly and we fed her & kittens. Caught them and spayed momma, tested negative for leukemia and hiv. Tick/flea free. Momma is recuping in my moms basement and kittens were socialized . One got a forever home with my son's friend and wife. waiting to hear from rescue for adoption. The little kitten we have left(having trouble sexting them but i think girl?) looks just like Tigger(orange stripes). Litter box trained and is EXTREMELY affectionate.she has been through a lot. They were about 6 wks when we caught them two weeks ago. We cannot keep them. Please anyone want or know of someone who can give this kitten or momma a good life. pat 631 472-2410(Holtsville)

Thank you for responding. I would be crying everyday if I left them outside. We knew once the momma stopped nursing she would be pregnant again so it was a must to have her spayed. Thought we could get it done for free at the Brookhaven rescue but they said no . the money is only allotted for ferel that would be just released again. This was someones pet at some time and probably when they saw she was pregnant tossed her. That cost us $130 and plus all the food & litter. A rescue came to look at her but couldn't promise to take her anytime soon. I'm back& forth to my mom's since she has arthritis & can't go down. Kitten is in our little room but can't let her out since our two chihuahuas are going crazy. Between my son, husband & me we have patiently got her to where she is more then social. She is VERY affectionate . Wouldn't think this would have been possible two weeks ago. Happy we found a home for the sister (son's friend and wife took her straight to vet) so she has a good home. Getting very attached to this little orange kitten but I know we cannot have another animal at this time. If you could post on your f/b if anyone wants the mom or kitten I would very much appreciate it.

Try contacting Bobbi & The Strays, Courageous Cats, and The Long Island Cat Project. Maybe they can post to help find a foster or adoptive home!

Will try them also. Called about 20 and most just leave message and no call backs. Some I sent pics and a few words about the cats and asked them to post on their f/b page. Thanks for the contacts.

Okay...compassionate action rescue lady just keeps pulling me along every time I call. When she looked at momma last week she said she'd take her this week when her milk has dried . Kitten now she says to make an appointment at Seldon rescue she made for me for next thurs. at her cost and have shots and tested. I called and begged all day yesterday. Brookhaven rescue doesn't even cage left. Only hope was Kent rescue in Calverton. They said bring Kitten in only & they will give necessary checkup and if it is social they will take. This will be Monday. My son's friend who took the other kitten last week has a friend at work who's wife is interested. A little afraid since they have a dog and another cat. But now that I realize the situation of thousands of cats waiting in cages for adoption I can't be that picky. It will have a home. Taking in Momma cat to my vet today at my expense. it has a little tiny bald spot on top of head. A small shop in Smithtown who adopts out cats might take her but want to make I could give them clean bill of health. Read it could be hormonal or stress. At least I have a little hope now that I'll find a home for them. One word. Exhausted and want everything back to "normal".

I think the orange kitten is male. But he's so affectionate and really a pretty little kitten for a male. If you give me your email address if interested i can send you pics of him. But like I wrote in early post. Momma is a calico and about one or two years. VERY affectionate and quiet.

Good News. Momma and her baby went to the same home. They wanted both. When they put the kitten in the cage, who hasn't seen momma in two weeks, momma started to clean her. Cried and was so relieved that they will have a forever home .

A friend of my son's who he used to work with saw his f/b post showing the kittens and momma with the story and how we're looking for good homes. So him and his wife are newly wed and just purchased a home. The have been talking about getting a kitten for awhile. So they took the little female calico. His friend saw that friends post who He works with at Brookhaven lab and they got our # from him. They are a young couple who loves animals. Have one baby, a rescue dog and one other cat. They saw the kitten and then went to my moms where the momma cat was staying and fell in love with her. We gave them all the food we brought and the toys . she has been sending me pics and updates of them both . Momma finally ventured out of the room and kitten is pouncing on everything including their cat . Both are settling in as members of the family. They named momma Daisy and kitten Sir Pounce a lot. lol. She said they really have bonded most with their one year old. Always close to her. We put up a barrier around our shed so this won't happen again. But do not regret going through this that it turned out so well. thought they would all eventually end up sitting in cages for a long time waiting to be adopted if ever.
