Signed up for my 1st 30k....how much harder is it than a 1/2 marathon?
I know about 6more miles difficult
But in terms of training, did you notice that much more difference?
I've done 3 1/2-marathons in the last 8 months.
Any training routines or suggestions would be great. I was thinking I'd follow a marathon program, but stop at the 19mile.
TIA!!!!

Just rein up to 16-17 you'll run the rest the day if easily between the crowds and the adrenaline.

Re: Signed up for my 1st 30k....how much harder is it than a 1/2 marathon?
It's down here in NC. It's actually at my favorite place to run, so I know the lake trail very well. I don't know the 1st 9 miles, but it's greenway, so it should be nice.
So I only should go to 16-17? Any program recs?
I was going to go to 18-19, like the way I went to 12 for a 1/2.

If that makes you more compatible then go for it. I never train more then 20 for a full marathon or 10 for. 1/2. But you want to be confident on that day so if it helps you to know you can for sure do the distance train that way. I'd only do one run at that distance however. Try Hal higdeons intermediate marathon plan

Makes sense.
I was looking at the novice marathon. You think I'm intermediate
Yes, I only had 1 19 planned, then was going to do 12, then 8, then race day.

I've never done a 30k, but I trained for a marathon and got to that distance in training. 18 miles was not too bad at all. Like you said it's only six miles more!!!! And I also don't think you need to even run to 18 miles. 16 should be sufficient.
What's great about a 30k is You'll never get to that 20 mile barrier- where it starts to get incredibly hard and you face hitting the wall.
Good luck!

For me it's the time commitment. This "seems" like it's a doable training. Of course my DH decided he wants to also, so know we're juggling both our schedules.
