New Moms - Period
My son is now 7 weeks old and i'm planning to go back on birth control. My doctor sent in the prescription but cvs didn't fill it as they need authorization from the doctor. Of course my doctor has not returned their phone calls and the office is closed for the weekend.
With my luck I started spotting tonight so i'm sure my period will arrive tomorrow. It's been so long since I've been on birth control between ttc and was pregnant. Can I start the pill on Monday (2nd day of my period)? I thought you're suppose to start the pill on the first day of your period or the following Sunday. If I start taking the pill the following Sunday I would be a week into my cycle.... I'm just nervous as to when i'll be covered and not risk getting pregnant.
Any advise is appreciated. Also, does anyone know how long it takes for birth control to before affective once you take the first pill?

Re: New Moms - Period
I went back on the pill after my 6 week postpartum visit. After I filled the rx, I started it on a Sunday. As far as I know it takes a weeks for it to become effective. After my first month on the pill, I had my first pp period so I can't speak to starting the pill right after getting AF for the first time. HTH

Re: New Moms - Period
You can start it the 2nd day of AF or you can start it next Sunday. It doesn't really matter. Sunday starts are really just so you can remember that you start a new pack on Sundays and you will usually get AF during the week (not weekends).
Either way, you need to use other protection for the first month to be safe.
