Anyone done a Beaches resort?

We are thinking of doing a Beaches resort next year with the kids. Has anyone gone? Did you go to Turks & Caicos or Jaimaca? Did you like your experience, any feedback?

Yes we went to Turks and Caicos and loved it! How old are your kids? It's very big, you don't need to leave the resort for anything. There is a good selection of restaurants and I liked the food - I thought it was good for an all inclusive. Some buffet places, some sit down. A couple of nicer places too. Obviously the beach is gorgeous and there are I think 3 large pools and a water park area (we skipped DS was on 15 months when we went) Every night they had a show which was great and a theme, they have sesame street characters which DS loved! They had a movie night, talent show, dance shows, sesame street parade etc. Rooms were nice, didn't spend much time in them. They have a day camp for kids that you can drop them off - we didn't do it because DS was so little but it looked cute and fun and we would see the kids in the camp throughout the day. The staff was so nice and helpful, they always went out of their way for DS!
Only con to me is price - it is expensive but we went at the cheapest time.

I didn't even know they had a Jamaica one! Is that new?
I've only heard great things about Turks and Caicos!

We went to one in Ocho Rios resort in Jamaica and loved it!! It was small enough to handle with a 2 year old which was great. THe ride from the airport was long, but DD napped through it checked out the sights.

Re: Anyone done a Beaches resort?

I am going to preface this by saying that when we went we did not have kids so maybe that colored my review.
We went in 2004 to Beaches Turks and Caicos for a wedding.
For the 2 nights we were there we paid $1700 (including airfare). For that money I could have gone a cruise for 5 days.
And IMO it suckedd.
The room was musty, the furniture beat up, the shower didn't work right, the toilet didn't flush right.
The food was mediocre at best.
The property itself was nice, the beach nice, pools nice. I can't speak to the children's activities because as I said we were childless at the time and didn't use them.
Maybe it's great for kids.
Or maybe I'm just a snob.
Or maybe they have renovated and updated since I went.
But for me, for the money ,I felt ripped off.
I have stayed at 5 star hotels and this wasn't even close. The Best Western Eden in PA is nicer in terms of accommodations.

It's definitely not a place where I would go without kids. I know some of the rooms are new - we stayed in a newer area and it was nice.

Just curious, when is the cheapest time? It does seem really expensive

I could go anytime between January and June - the cheapest rate I found was early may....it was a few hundred cheaper than some of the other weeks I looked at.

Eta: still wasn't cheap by any means!! But less than I would have paid in January which is when I wanted to go
