Going to Greenport. Have never been there before. What should I make sure not to miss... stores, activities, restaurants... what are the best things about greenport?

Re: Greenport
The Carousel!!! Other than that none of the restaurants out there Wow me, like no "must go to"'s. That said Claudios has a nice deck for outside seating on the water. There is a kids' clothing store out there (Corner of Front St) that I LOVE though!

Greenport
It's just a nice small town to walk around in, eat at Claudio's or Bruce's Cheese Emporium. There's not really activities, it's just shops and the marina.

Re: Greenport
I'm going this weekend with my girlfriends! Woohoo!
If you're going with kids there's not a ton of kid-related stuff, but I agree with the carousel and with Claudio's (not the Italian restaurant one, the seafood one); Claudio's is outdoors and right on the water so kids might like watching the boats, etc and it's very casual, so they can walk around the place. There's also an ice cream place in town.
Without kids, you can rent bikes and tour around or poke into all the cute little shops. Frisky Oyster is delicious for dinner (awesome drinks too!). We're going to Noah's this year. Lucharito's has also been recommended to me. Claudio's turns into a sort-of club Friday nights (at least it did last year...), so that could be fun. We also take a day and hit the vineyards and a day at the beach usually.
Either way, enjoy!

Re: Greenport
We are out here all summer. Aldo's coffee in Greenport, (he opens when he wants and is a bit eccentric)Carousel, buy corn from Seps in East Marion or Harbes. Briermere rte 48) for pie (rhubarb is our fave...they have great cookies too) Blue Duck for bread is in Greenport, southold, and Riverhead(sunflower or cereal loaf is our favorite) southold town has a nice downtown area. taste of north fork has pickled items and jams. Mattituck for the Magic fountain Ice cram (all crazy flavors). One of the prettiest vineyards is Raphael (for views, I'm not saying wine, that's a personal preference). The Candyman in Orient is an old fashioned Candy store. Cutchogue has Cutchogue Village Farm which has animals of all sort to feed. They make great soups. Check them out. Across the street is Brauns seafood. Excellent quality and you can buy from Brauns to go for take out. They have picnic tables. We went to Allure restaurant and Soundview Restaurant and didn't like it. We love Jedediah Hawkins Inn, North a Fork Table and Inn, Claudio's, Hellenic Taverns, Brauns to go, Touch of Venice. If you are into home decor, Beal and Bell in Greenport, White Weathered Barn. In the Attic too, Laurel. Material objects, Jamesport. Small Holdins Farm, Aquebogue. White Flower Farmhouse, a southold.Sweet Indulgnce Greenport Take a stroll down Love Lane in Mattituck. It is a quaint shopping strip. I could go on and on....sorry for Rambling. In a Greenport, walk the docks and be amazed by the mega yachts. They are no joke. North Fork Table food truck is good too. The Greenport Brewery just opened a huge new location in Southold and you still can taste in Greenport.

Re: Greenport
We just went 2 weeks ago. If you like beer, check out the Brewery. It is completely no frulls, tiny and in an old firehouse. I don't love beer but still had fun. Then we walked to the Blue Canoe Oyster bar. Little place with outdoor seating. Had one of the best sandwiches I ever had (bacon, lettuce, tomato avocado). Nothing fancy, but super yummy.

Re: Greenport
Greenport Harbor is still open in Greenport, they just opened a second location in Southold.
There is a really cute place called Greenport Art and Design, you can have kids paint pottery! They also have kits to take home.
