how much should I give?
we are going to a good friend's kids birthday party. She has two kids (2 and 4) born in the same month so she is having a double party at her house. She will be having a pool party and bringing in a hero for food, but no entertainment. She came to my sons birthday and gave him a $40 gift. Do I have to do the same per kid for her? Another friend of mine said $80 for both kids is ridiculous and she would do $25 each. Thoughts?

Re: how much should I give?
I agree with $25 each kid.
I don't take into account where the party is/the type of food. A kid's birthday present is a kid's birthday present. As long as my kid is having fun its all the same to me.

I stick to about 25-30 for most bday parties but for some close friends and some family I will spend 40 plus on them average though is about $50
ETA: I also never consider where the party is being held ... that goes for any event ... I give what I want and I don't try to make the present equal to where the person held the party.

thanks ladies, in general I do around $25-30 per kids too. I have an occasional friend who we do more with also.

Did she bring both kids to your party?
That's what I usually do (my kids are 2&4), so I give a $50 gift ($25 per each of MY kids who are attending the party).

Re: how much should I give?
$25 per kid is appropriate in my book. I do not consider things like food, entertainment or location when giving gifts. I consider my relationship with the parents/children.

how much should I give?
For a good friend, I'd do $30-40 per kid.

Re: how much should I give?
I would spend what you normally spend. I wouldn't spend less because it's at the house. And I wouldn't spend less because there are two kids.

she actually has 3 kids and all came to my son's party. I ended up doing around $30 per kid. Thanks for the replies everyone
