mom's 18 year old cat is dying-update coming to the end now. shes gone
I posted here looking for food ideas for this ol sister of mine, but she's no longer eating. I'm depressed, mom is losing it. It's going to be a bad time.
Please send up some prayers for us as we try to get through this. Any advice on what to do, how to handle this etc welcome.
Update 6/30: Well she made it the month of June, but I think it will be any day. Mom is a wreck. Question: does anyone know if visiting vets put pets down? 
7/29 she hung in for another month. Im hysterical on the bus right now. Run free say hi to dad

thanks. it's been a struggle. mom is afraid to leave the house because she's afraid she'll die while she's out. every day we're just kind of waiting; she's only drinking water at this point. it's like torture for my mom to watch

mom's 18 year old cat is dying
How is the cat doing? Has she passed? I hate to say it, but if she's suffering, putting her to sleep is really the most humane thing (even though it is so difficult to do.) There are vets that will come to the house to do it to minimalize stress to the animal. Maybe you could go that route? So sorry you and your mom are going through this.

Shes alive, drinking water eating very little. Unclear if shes in pain or just at the end. Its killing my mom.

I'm sorry you are going through this. I just got back from the vet and my cat was around the same age. I made the decision to put him to sleep there.
DS was with me and that was heartbreaking.
But it was really very peaceful and humane.
When they stop eating/drinking I think it's a sign.

I'm so very sorry
I am seriously worried for my mom. The cat is a lifeline after my dad passed. She has a dog but my dad found the cat as a tiny kitten and brought her home, so there's a lot there.
I hope you are ok, again so sorry for your loss. Your furbaby is running free.

That's so tough.
I remember a similar thing happened to DH family member. Her DH passed and then she did everything she could to keep their dog alive.
It was very heartbreaking.

So here's a good update i guess. I went to see the cat (yes, she must be on life #30), she's so thin but she's "ok", getting around, able to jump on the couch to sit in mom's lap.
Mom said she's not going to the food bowl so she brings the food to her, like she's forgetting to eat. I said maybe it's dementia?? The cat nibbles a small amount. I guess it's keeping her alive. I'll take it, as long as it lasts. Thanks for all the

You can definitely find a vet to come to the house. I think that's probably the most humane thing to do at this point.

I'm so sorry. We went through the same thing with an 18.5 year old cat a couple of years ago. It's agonizing.
