4.5 month old gets easily overstimulated...

My Lo has always been quickly overstimulated. The playmat is fun for 5 minutes and then she starts yelling and gets tired. She has always gotten tired quick, and I was hoping she would grow out of that. She now only averages a wake time of 1 hour, and it is pushing it when she is up more than that. I just bought a exersaucer, and as predicted she can only handle it for 5 minutes before yelling. Should I be concerned? She is definitely more alert, and is hitting all of the milestones, and more often now she only naps for an hour, as opposed to her old 2.5 hour naps.

Just thought she would sort of start growing out of this? Anyone have any experience with this...I am a FTM :).

4.5 month old gets easily overstimulated...

Around that time (and up to about a year), DS was up for 2hrs, down for 2hrs (and down for 12hrs a night). I was concerned he was sleepin too much- the dr laughed at me and told me to remember this moment when he slept less. So, I wouldn't be concerned about how long she's awake vs sleeping.

What is she doing when she's up? 4.5 months is still young for the exersaucer. If she's annoyed with something, move onto something else. I feel like we read a lot of books and did very short play time around 4.5 months. He started crawling at 5 months and was crazy from then on!

Up until the same age DD was similar and doing 1 hour awake time and then a 1 hour nap. Right around then she finally stretched to 2 hours awake time. I remember getting a little frustrated around 3-4 months bc I didn't know what to do with her all day. Everything we did lasted a few minutes and I felt like I needed more ideas. We did a little time in the bouncer where we played with toys or read books, played with toys on a blanket in her room, played with different toys on her playmat in the living room, hung out in the rnp with a toy or two. That was with 1 hour awake time where she spent half of it eating. I bought a bumbo bc I felt like I needed another way to entertain her but we never ended up using it much. They're still young for the excersaucer at that age so a few minutes at a time sound perfectly normal. Everything sounds normal I think it's just a rough time where you feel like you/they should be doing more but they're not quite ready yet. Just keep up with tummy time so she can get moving soon and don't hesitate to give her some quiet time to just hang out and watch what's going on. Maybe you could also try wearing her while you do things around the house so she can just hang and get some new perspectives.
