Math interview questions

I was asked to be on a hiring panel for a middle school math teacher. They want me to focus on asking questions about common core math.

Anybody have some good questions I could ask?

Give us an example of a lesson that combines an engaging activity with common core math?

I always like questions about informal assessment, like "how do you know they understood what you taught without giving an exam at the ende of each period" <----- that kind of question. maybe: "how do you check for understanding without formal testing (then specify it to CC)
You could also ask a common core related to real world math type question.
