Ectopic girls - could use some support :(
Havent had to post here in awhile but now I could use some support. I just underwent lap surgery today to remove an ectopic pregnancy today. Was around 5-6 weeks pregnant. Hormone levels went from 1000-2000 over a weekend so 3 days. 2 days later they fell to 800 and over the weeknd I started spotting. By Tuesday I had some really bad sharp pains on my right side and also bled a little heavier overnight. Wednesday the dr did a sono and did not see a gestional sac in my uterus but rather a large mass in my right tube which looked like it had a yolk sac in it. I swore it felt line a cyst but he was convinced it was a tubal pregnancy. He said there was fluid around it would could be bleeding and wanted me to go the OR that day and I did.
He never mentioned that shot not sure why? Maybe he was scared I was close to rupturing due to the pain and the swollen tube. Also 3 yrs ago I had lap surgery to unblock my ther tube (left side) which I had a hydrosalpinx in after a pelvic infection after a D&C. Woah that was a mouthful. Anyway, ever since then I was at risk for a tubal pregnancy. They watched me closely and unfortunately the left side reblocked. The dr today took out that left tube bc it had a ton of scar tissue can can do more bad than good. But he said he thinks he salvaged the right tube.
So also I wanted to add that after the first surgery 3 yrs ago I was able to get pregnant on my own and had a beautiful baby girl in fall 2012. I am so thankful to have her, I can't even express it.
Now this ectopic and I am just devasted. The surgery and recovery is so painful and I hate anesthesia. I can't sleep either bc all I can think about is this possibly happening again to me and I can't so surgery again. Dr will do an hsg in 6-8 weeks to check the tube but I am still scared of scar tissue in there. We may be one and done which breaks my heart because I wanted more kids...unless I consider IVF. This is all a lot to process so soon. I need time to heal emotionally and physically.
But would love to hear what you girls have to say, good bad or indifferent. Success stories, non-success stories, worries? Thx so much

sending hugs! i'm so sorry you had to go through that :( i had a tube removed due to an ectopic and it was devastating. i did ultimately have my DS but we did IVF to get pregnant. that said, there is still risk of ectopic even with IVF but i was willing to take the chance (and glad i did). if you ever want to talk , feel free to FM me.

I am so sorry you're going through this! I had the shot, not surgery, but just wanted to say that if something was visible in your tube and you were already bleeding, it was likely too late for the shot - way too risky. It doesn't work instantly. Many hugs to you

I am so sorry you are going through this. I did IVF and it's a roller coaster but if it gets you the baby you dream of it's totally worth it. I would see an RE and get another opinion.

Re: Ectopic girls - could use some support :(
I am so sorry you're going through this. I had an ectopic right after 2 other mc's. I had the shot and it didn't work...I ended up losing my tube.
I did 3 rounds of IVF...it didn't work for me. That doesn't mean it wouldn't work for someone else; looking back, I don't think I was in the best hands.
I actually just got PG this past Feb just with TI and monitoring with my one tube...and I ovulated out of the side without the tube! Unfortunately, it ended in a mc, but it was a trisomy, completely a fluke and unrelated to my other issues.
I know how you feel because I have a 5 year old and hate that she's my only one right now...she wants a sibling so badly...but I refuse to give up. Be your own advocate...do the research, try lots of doctors and ask questions. The most important thing I've learned throughout my 3 year journey was to be my own advocate.
